The spin keeps on spinning. Now, it's Obama saying Romney will raise taxes on the middle class to keep the tax breaks going for the super wealthy. Sounds fishy to me. Is Obama right, or is it true that Mitt Romney is planning to raise taxes on the middle class?

ABCNEWS.GO.COM reports:
AKRON, Ohio – President Obama today pounced on a new report that found Mitt Romney’s economic plan would raise taxes on the majority of Americans and give tax breaks to the super wealthy, telling supporters in the battleground state of Ohio that his opponent wants them to pay more so that “people like him” can get a tax cut.

    Yes.

Romney knows that by pandering to the ultra-ultra-ultra-wealthy he will win the election.

Obama said it so it's a lie. Everything else he says is a lie and this one is no different. He's got no record to stand on so he's slamming his competition.

...well, since romney's wealthy, and like all other wealthy people he doesn't want to have to pay taxes, I figure it's probably true...(remember, all wealthy people think like the wealthy leona helmsley, who said "..only the little people should have to pay taxes..")

Funny. last I checked, the middle class has been dying off in record numbers during the lying socialist traitor's abject damaging failure of a term. Time to kick the liar in chief out for good.

I said "no" but I would rather have had the opportunity to tick "I don't know"!

obama can say whatever he wants. Whatever Romney intends to do will come out during the debates in October. And because much of what obama tosses out is untrue, I think he only comments so that people 'hear' the lie and he hopes it will stick with them.

Because out of one side of their mouths, the liberals bash the rich and create class warfare and a climate of jealousy and coveting what the rich have. Yet, these same politicians pander to their rich donors and associates. Accepting the donations, cutting them policy and contract deals, awarding the corrupt with posh appointments and positions, etc. You can't ethically and morally reconcile that behavior. They decry 'chrony capitialism', yet they participate in it in a big way. Were it not capitalism, it would still exist in thier dream economic model as chrony socialism where the chosen few with the power and influence would lord over the masses in the redistribution.

The liberals have always done this. Do some of you people out there really believe that Obama, Biden, and the other big wigs of your party aren't rich, rich, rich? Come on, you're dumb, but you're not THAT dumb! Romney doesn't want the middle class taxed more! Obama says he doesn't, but he calls people in the top half of the middle class rich! Obama is just so out of touch with reality that he can't be believed about anything!

And in this one case - he is right. At least when it comes to the people who vote for Romney - and for GOP policies. They are supporting reverse Robin Hood policies - and are thereby shooting themselves - and their children - in the foot (and the head, and the wallet, and so on....).

I like you Art and enjoy your comments, but this time I think you've got it wrong. The so-called wealthy pay a higher tax percentage now than anyone else and they are the ones who provide jobs. I've never been employed by a poor person in my life and I don't believe it will ever happen. Keep raising taxes on the rich and they will move on to another country, not because they're unpatriotic, but because it makes good business sense.

Let me put it the way Reagan did........

"Democrats create more taxes, Republicans create more tax payers". See my point?

So, I guess the question becomes; Where are the jobs? The Bush tax cuts have been in place for a decade. The wealthiest Americans are paying less taxes than any time in the last 100 years. We did this because we were told that the wealthiest Americans were the job creators and that if we didn't tax them, they would create jobs. So, again, where are the jobs?

The wealthiest Americans already pay a higher percentage of taxes. Is that fair? No it isn't! You ask "where are the jobs"? I'll tell you where they went. After Jimmy Carter's Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, the United States real estate market was on the clock towards disintegration. Who builds homes, you ask? Contractors and the people who sell them goods and services and the people who work for them. Why did we lose money and our country fall into such debt, you ask? It's because, as a result, there were far less taxpayers as a result of the housing crash and reduction in home values. Between LBJ's Great Society and Jimmy Carter's Community Reinvestment Act, it's a miracle that our country is still around.
Now for the even worse news. America is $16 Trillion in debt and we borrow 40 cents on every dollar we make.
Where are the jobs you ask? I've got some bad news for you brother. Where did our country disappear to will be your next question.

isnt the progressive tax just the opposite of a special tax status? granted though there are many ways out of paying those high tax rates thanks to a trillion page tax code. we havent had "representation" throughout my entire life, i like your spin on the issue though. im curious as to which candidate you think is giving special rights based on wealth. is it the current "leader", who gives tax money to billion dollar companies to pay unpaid promises by unions or is it the guy who has made a living rubbing elbows with wealthy folks and corporate lawyers

Do you remember the housing booms? Right now the wealthiest Americans are paying 36%. They pay 15% for capital gains. What period of American history do you feel had the best economy? What ever period that was, take a look at the tax schedule for that period.
