WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Monday that mass killings like the weekend shooting rampage at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin were happening with too much regularity and should prompt soul searching by all Americans, but he stopped short of calling for new gun-control laws.

Maybe that is the issue: Exisiting laws are not currently enforced. But then that needs to be done. Something has to change because what is occurring in the usa is not ok.I'd also like to see more restrictions on semi-automatic weapons because their main purpose is to kill scores of ppl
I see you are from Illinois and that is great. Chicago has between 10 and 25 people shot and killed every weekend and none by so called assault rifles.
Dozens of people are killed everyday in South Africa.
The Islamic terr govt of the Sudan has killed 3 million of its own citizens since it seized power in 1989. The Islamic terr govt has driven about 4.5 million people from their homes since 1989 and this does not even begin to account for the tens of thousands of rapes and other violence.

Hitler - 10 million Germans, 6 million Jews, 7 million others.
Castro - a number does not readily come to mind but it was tens of thousands.
Kaddaffi - a number does not readily come to mind.
Stalin - 50 million
Idi Amin - 3 million, some of which he ate.
Mao - 70 million
Pot Pol - 4 million, mostly by starvation
Il Jung - 4 million minimum
And how were any of those dictators known to be gun control experts? I'm not saying we should confiscate firearms just that the selling of semi-automatics should be more tightly controlled.
1. I'm not saying let's ban guns. I'm saying let's have reasonable regulations. Don't we have driver's licenses to try to make the roads safer?
2. Cars have a purpose beyond slaughtering a group of people. Some guns, pistols and rifles, I can see have uses like hunting and self-defense, but what else do you use an assault rifle for but to kill a room full of people?
The US Forces uses a 5.56 NATO round and that translates into a .223 civilian round which is a nice rifle for deer hunting.
Russia and other countries use AK-47 with a 7.62 x 39 and that translates into a .308 civilian round which would be fine for moose hunting.

UPDATE: A separate source has corroborated the other eyewitness claim – a family member whose parents were victims of the shooting said his parents told him there were “multiple shooters” involved in a “coordinated” attack.
They wanted my Driver's License. Look I have no problem if Congress wants to make a combined SS Card with photo ID. Mail them out to everybody.
But this creeping assault on the right to vote WILL stop. The only question will be, if the GOP is still standing when the fight is over.
