Obama Removes All Dignity from the Office of President?

~ The Rebel ~ 2012/04/28 15:21:05
Remember when there was a sense of dignity in the office of president of the United States?

Obama has made such dignified appearances as pretending he didn’t know who Snooki was on “The View,” as reported by MediaIte, to mocking the disabled on “Late Night with Jay Leno. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama has been seen dancing on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly,” working out on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” playing tug ‘o war on Jimmy Fallon, as well as appearances on “Sesame Street,” David Letterman, “Ellen” and many more. AllVoices has counted 44 appearances for the first lady.

The latest embarrassment to the office is Obama’s recent “Slow Jam on the News” with Jimmy Fallon, with the band The Roots. This is the same band that played Fishbone’s song that contains expletives when then presidential candidate Michele Bachmann appeared on the low-rated late night show.

What is undignified about using popular media to address different demographics? Modern presidents are no longer ivory tower idols who speak only to the adult elite. Today our leaders reach out to the youth and engage them in the process. Michelle's appearance on iCarly specifically addressed the kids who have a parent away serving our country. How is this a bad thing?

Nixon appeared on Laugh-In, George W Bush did Letterman. Clinton played saxophone on Arsenio Hall. This has been common practice for presidential campaigns for at least 40 years. (and real presidents don't lie to the American people to get us into a a war and later make jokes about it)

It's only bad because Obama did it. Pretend Mitt could ever win the Presidency and also pretend that his stiff azz had enough personality to relate to the people without insulting them.....they would think it was the best thing in the world. Now stop pretending......Mitt can't win. No worries.

Real Presidents don't apologize for America, nor "slow-jam the news," nor take so many vacations at public expense.

This true. And Obama never apologized for America. This is a conservative distortion. You should also check on how many vacations George W Bush and Ronald Reagan took while in office.

Somebody had to apologize for the stupid stuff these past presidents did to this country. America isn't all that, she can fall and one day she will. If Willard gets in office America is through because these republicans are going to take America places she's never been before and hell is one of them.

This is pathetic to read. Dignity of a president? And you probably voted twice for "W".

You rate knowing who Snooki is as being dignified? I don't even know ho she is. I know she's a chubby reality show on some "New Jersey Shores" show, because I read my "dignified" media. Since the 1950s all presidents and first ladies have used Television. Heck! The Almighty Reagan was a Television star.

Jimmy Fallon? Michele Bachmann is a joke - dignified? That doesn't work.

Cartoons. That's all you people pay attention too. Just think about that first cartoon. What has Obama really apologized for? He refused to prosecute the Cheney Admininstration for their war crimes. That seems like a man who can forgive this country for it's own astrocities.

their need to show their faces on all kinds of shows besides the orchestrated campaigning smacks of desperation.

Actually it's what elected officials are SUPPOSED to do - relate to actual PEOPLE, reach out to diverse audiences, not restrict campaign appearances to wealthy donors. The fact that the Right is once again trying to attack the President without cause smacks of REAL desperation.

    A. I didn't say the President of the United States was an "ordinary person".

    B. With people like Ted Nugent out there, the Secret Service is necessary. Look at what Sarah Palin's calls for violence caused.

You can't really be that shallow. The President shouold be able to relate to the American people, but there are people that he must also be protected from. I know you understand that.

whatever floats your boat, i am saying they take it to a new level. they are covered enough when campaigning, and interviews. the need to appear on late night shows, and day shows like the view where fawned over is a bit too much in mho. and even the others do it, but i consider it distasteful for them all to do it. it cheapens them all.again mho.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. Personally I don't put much weight on these sorts of appearances no matter who does them, but I don't consider them inappropriate or "undignified" either. I mean, let's be honest - a candidate kissing a crying baby is hardly "dignified", but they all do it. It's part of the game. Not a reason to criticize. In my humble opinion.

seems like we shall agree to disagree on things. but of course i am very old fashioned. trouble is yes both sides do it but the constant need to be in the spotlight is distasteful, it shows a lack of confidence the need to be in the spotlight. to actively seek accolades shows lack of self respect. and a humongous ego.
