if everyone paid a flat tax lets say 10% of their income that would be fair. no matter what your income is.

How true; the top 1% of income earners/jobs producers should not have to pay 70% of the tax bill. The 49% that pay NO income tax should. Better yet would to be put all the people that lost their jobs under Obama back to work; more taxpayers, not higher taxes.

Why pay income taxes period? They are unfair and were originally only meant for war time.

To keep people from killing each other; we have to pay taxes to fund the government/national defense. It has gone so far past that, we fund all kinds of wasteful, needless crap. it's the dollar you are thinking about; it is a promise to pay money, not money itself.

Flat taxes are horribly regressive. Income taxes were meant to counter the regressive taxes that exist in society & are levied on the poorest, such as sales tax, payroll tax, etc.

All this does is continue his class warfare and divide the country even further. And this has been one of Obama's agendas since day one.

For the phony conservatives out there just remember we had a balanced federal budget with the prior president and the reason was that the very rich paid a bit more and while we spent a lot on the military, it was not as much as today. So if phony conservatives were really interested about fiscal responsibility they would be leading the charge for higher taxes on the rich and a reduction in military spending.
