We're six months from the general election, and things are starting to get serious. After months of focus on the GOP primary, President Obama is taking a preliminary shot at policy. In an interview with ABC News on Wednesday, Obama became the first U.S. president to publicly support gay marriage. This is a significant change in perspective from his 2008 campaign, when he supported civil unions but opposed gay marriage.

He told ABC News, "For me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couple should be able to get married." Many suspect the sudden shift is in response to public opinion, which has been steadily moving in the direction of support for gay marriage, and while it certainly won't be the focus of the election, it has vast implications for the direction Obama's campaign might head. Do you think it will help Obama get reelected, or will this breaking news do more harm than good?

I'm aware of this. Though I've only seen a few atheists that say no matter what there is no god... I can't disprove something without there being proof in the first place.

"Tolerance" you use that word like sword, to cut off all all dissenting voices. Using the tolerance word in this cavalier way is only hiding behind your own intolerance.

You obviously hate Christianity, because your own words highlight just how deeply intolerant you are.

Then you, in your total intolerance of Christianity and right wing conservatism, have painted the whole of Christianity guilty and yet not all Christians hate(your word not mine) homosexuals. not all right wingers are intolerant of allowing gay marriage.

So you like Obama, are simply using your own intolerances, to selectively bend the law to fit your own narrow political viewpoint. But fortunately this ploy of electioneering has badly backfired in the most spectacular way. Because you can't fool the people by trying to treat them like a bunch of ignoramuses.

If you were truly tolerant you would have to accept my belief that:

MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN

Homosexuals and heterosexuals can be tolerant of one another's differences without accepting the misconceived notion that heterosexuals must condone and approve of homosexual marriage if their faith ordains otherwise.

You can not legislate faith or one's concept of morality.

I'm also a law abiding citizen!. The law in 33 states forbids same sex marriage. Your personal idea of civil rights does not supersede that fact.

Africans who have never been to Europe or America do not understand your society having gay people. Being gay is virtually unknown here in Zambia. I have never known a gay Zambian, though they do exist. I have known gays here, two Englishmen, two Englishwomen and one Frenchman, all secondary school teachers, all nice people.

I think he made a calculated risk. Seeing about a 50/50 ovrall split with a good possibility of exciting more of his base, add the special interest money from big money homosexual campaign contributors, he decided to take the risk.

How is someone who is against gay marriage guilty of ignorance and hate? Not everyone who opposes gay marriage does so because they hate gay people, however virtually all of liberals are full of hate, anger, and prejudice. You liberals can never debate issues without playing the race/gender/sexual orientation card because you can never defend your beliefs with truth. And to those who disagree with you, you are always calling them names and falsely accusing them of a whole bunch of things. Stick with the issues of gay marriage and stop with the lies about hate and ignorance.
