Obama on bringing back manufacturing.. We as unions can shake down all industries

President Obama rallied with union workers at a Boeing plant in Washington, but he praised the manufacturing conducted by Boeing in South Carolina, even though his National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) tried to close the South Carolina plant at the behest of the Washington union workers.

"So this company is a great example of what American manufacturing can do in a way that nobody else in the world can do it," Obama told the assembled workers this afternoon at the Everett, Wash., Boeing plant. "And the impact of your success, as I said, goes beyond the walls of this plant. Every Dreamliner that rolls off the assembly line here in Everett supports thousands of jobs in different industries all across the country. Parts of the fuselage are manufactured in South Carolina and Kansas," Obama also noted before mentioning factories in other states.

The NLRB tried to close that South Carolina plant, though, after union workers in Washington argued that Boeing had built the new factory in South Carolina -- which is a right to work state -- in retaliation against the Machinist Union strikes that had slowed production in Washington state. The NLRB dropped the complaint in December after Boeing signed a new contract with the machinists

The Washington Examiner's Philip Klein argued that the NLRB "helped unions shake down Boeing" by pushing the complaint, which would have cost over 1,000 non-union jobs in South Carolina, until the union received the new contract.

"What's happening here in Everett can happen in other industries," Obama added today during his discussion of American manufacturing.

We definitely need manufacturing back into our country, but labor unions and their leaders are only for themselves in making big profits.

Sadly the unions will continue to cost American jobs. When foreign car makers were looking to build plants here they by passed Michigan which already has the factories and workers who know how to rub them yet the UAW made it clear if they came here they must have union shops so the jobs went else where! The unions need to allow right to work, if they're so great people will choose to stay with them if not people will leave. The people should be allowed a choice! The companies will continue to flee as long as unions are allowed to blackmail them!

O-blame-o gives ANOTHER speech about bringing jobs back to the US, while he continues to support AGGRESIVE NEW LAWS to promote union organizing in the US.
Anyone who wants to understand the OBAMA way of thinking needs only to read GEORGE ORWELL's books where the govt says one thing - while DOING EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE, and 55% of the people are fooled EVERY-TIME because they don't understand the language of "double-speak". The GOP chorus shouldn't be "drill-baby-drill", it sould be "Read-people-read!"

more non profitable industry that lives from federal subsidies is more of what we already have, when labour is the only margin that can be reduced by off shoring how can we expect to make a buck and compete in the market?

I wish he could bring back manufacturing. The sad fact of the matter is, companies began outsourcing jobs big time 30 years ago, and now the US is severely lacking in manufacturing equipment and infrastructure. We need to rebuild our plants and that will take decades.

We have become a business unfriendly country. Why would any business want to be here? They can run their company for half the cost and without the hassles. Until that changes they are not coming back.

This is just another attempt by Obama via NLRB, packed with his surrogate appointees, to sue the new Boeing factory. He is interfering with South Carolina's state law from doing what it is legally has the right to do as a right to work state and 1000 jobs are at stake here, while the country has millions of people out of work. He is currying the favor of the union members everywhere by being their advocate as they voted for him overwhelmingly in 2008 in order to entice them to do so again in 2012.

The NLRB "helped unions shake down Boeing"? LOL

Right-Wingers and China's leaders hate unions. But Chinese workers are fighting, and gaining ground.

Free unions will prevail, in America, in China, in Indonesia etc.

so when are you going to go to china and indonesia and start working hard to unionize them? Would be curious to see how long you remain free in China trying to organize unions.. my guess is you would disapear in less than a week
