President Obama met with a litany of liberal media personalities on Tuesday to push his tax cut message.

Spotted filing into the West Wing on Tuesday were Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Ed Schultz and Al Sharpton.

The meeting was not on the president’s public schedule and White House officials initially declined to comment on the meeting. They later issued a statement to POLITICO:

“This afternoon at the White House, the President met with influential progressives to talk about the importance of preventing a tax increase on middle class families, strengthening our economy and adopting a balanced approach to deficit reduction,” spokesman Josh Earnest said.

It is not JUST that, it also provides information that is far more accurate than Fox (which IS nothing but Republic Propaganda)..

I said this before. I watch MSNBC and Fox at the same time.
And laugh at how people can watch Fox and nothing else.

Besides, I see no problem with Obama explaining plans to MSNBC. Who else better to tell political information to than to the people who do support you. Clearly they will do their best to give it out the best they can. (And 9 times out of ten we will probably be able to research the evidence, unlike most of Fox)

That's your opinion, and you have a right to it, however, give me MSNBC any day over FOX. They have a lot of immature commentators that think life is like Burger King, have it your way, it don't work like that no more! People need to grow up.

You know Frank, if a liberal wants liberal programing he has from NPR to MSNBC to choose from and the funny thing is Fox has more viewers at 3:00AM than their compitition does at primetime so Fox must be doing something right.

As I recall the suggestion that a news station was a "wing of an American political party" was a comment of a guest interviewed on Fox News when asked about why a trivial fire fight had remained in the news.

Using it in this context suggests you are incapable of original thought....an accusation that liberal posters often hurl at conservatives. It is a shame to see you prove the liberals correct.

Ken, Obama and the DNC are now mainstream, nothing interesting about going along with the same old, same old---personally I'm not a big fan of Government and the mainstream -- that's exactly what the DNC/Liberals are
  • Ken CAPISCE 2012/12/05 23:26:57

MSNBC is to the left of center just as Fox is to the right of center. What has bothered me recently has been Conservatives and Republicans running on what their opposition has done better for example reducing deficits.... During my lifetimes, Republicans have increased the deficit faster than the Democrats. Similarly for the Republicans to run on reducing government spending is foolish since they have increased federal spending faster than the Democrats during my lifetime. Perhaps Obama will change that with respect to the White House but since Democrats don't have a majority in the House, he cannot change it for the House....so in 2016, either it will still be true that Republican Presidents have increased federal spending and federal deficits faster than Democratic presidents or that Republican majorities in the House have increased federal spending and federal deficits faster than Democratic majorities or the most likely outcome is it will remain both.

The fact that Fox News takes individual anecdotes out of context and tries to make them into issues is representative of the problem; America simply does not have conservative leadership which is capable of understanding the big picture and the long term consequences of its behavior. As a result, the conservatives who should be dominating politics as Americans age are losing the war.

Politicians regularly discuss pressing issues with members of the media. It doesn't make anyone a bootlicker or a propagandist. Earlier this week the President also gave an interview to Bloomberg news. He has in the past agreed to exclusive interviews with such Right Wing bastions as Bill O'Reilly.

It never ceases to amaze me how the Right Wing America Haters will take anything, no matter how ordinary and how routine, and try to drum up yet another "scandal".
