FAIRFAX, Va. (AP)--President Barack Obama says an encouraging jobs report shows that the country has made too much progress to turn back to the policies that he says led the nation into an economic crisis.Obama got much-needed good news Friday following his disappointing debate performance as the unemployment rate dropped to 7.8 percent. That's the lowest it's been since he took office in 2009.

At a campaign event in suburban Washington, Obama said the report was "a reminder that this country has come too far to turn back now."

Cheers erupted from the crowd at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., when Obama noted that the jobless rate is now at its lowest level since he became president.

I work at Home Depot -- drastically under employed -- and on my team we have three engineers, a chemistry prof, a former IT professional.... Yeah... we all have jobs.... but all of us should be making at least TWICE what we are earning now.

Right to the unemployment & welfare lines .... but oh, that's right, welfare people now 'earn' close to $30 / HR .... not too shabby, especially since the donations come mostly from people who earn less from working.( Hint: this is why the economy is tanking ) Oh yeah, and Obama's initial platform was the ' Right to Work' campaign that he now vehemently opposes.

Unemployment is not down & homelessness is at an all time high ... but the now homeless were dropped from the unemployment figures long ago. this guy is all hype & no content. Sometimes I wonder if he's in touch with reality at all.

And he cant feign a good economy based on a feigned job report .. he has to start paying down our debt with the billions he's giving to other countries and STOP SPENDING...

Might be a bit hard I'm in Australia. We don't have food stamps our unemployed get about $500 a week plus free travel, rent assistance and utilities assistance.

Then why comment on America's welfare moochers ? .... It's pretty good over here, you should see it. Although Australia's 'deal' sounds like a winner too.... Most of the unemployed here arent eligible for much, but those who choose not to work ( welfare ) make out very well... and both the employed & unemployed have to pay to take care of them. .

Our wages are much higher here than $500 everyone has welfare cheats but what's the alternative, let our fellow citizens starve ?

It's the opposite over here. WE'RE the ones who are starving, while they load their Lexus' & mercedes with tons of food , get free rent & utilities, & free cell phones on our dime. It's a mockery. The new motto here is " those who dont have what you have". They also dont have ( or want) a job to go to or pay taxes like " I have" to. Our president's goal is to "spread the wealth" by robbing from the middle class. Well, he'll have to find it somewhere else, the ; middle class' are now broke.

Their words and terms are always diametrically opposite their ideology. A short time back Obama said "We want people to be able to move up not to go down" all while talking about taking money from the middle class and above to impoverish them. He also wants your 401Ks and that is being acted on as we read.

Thanks to being unemployed for while, my 401k's were transferred into my own accounts & ready to magically 'disappear' before Obama can blink an eye ... Since this is the case with approx. 25-30% of America ( Est. true unemployment numbers ) , and a good 50% dont pay taxes ( dont work), He has a small pot to rob from .

This economy is not good. Just look at the unemployment numbers for example. They must be cooking the numbers, you tell me just how they can be lower now than when the unemployment rate was at 8.7% and we have less people working now?

That is the point the economy sucks and half assed jobs are what they promote as job building. They don't count the number of people who stopped looking, under employed, & part time. Let us not forget the number of people that have somehow gone on disability to beat the system.

By building the largest Government in the world how many private sector jobs has Obama created? What happens when you have no money to pay your employee's with? You borrow it, what happens when you can't pay it back because you've provided no income to pay back all that borrowed money? They come to collect.
