Obama hurries to change message on self-made business
by: Dave Boyer
President Obama, who was roundly criticized for saying entrepreneurs don't build businesses on their own, changed his tune Thursday night in Florida.
"I was saying the other day, we take pride in individual initiative and … we don’t like handouts," Mr. Obama told supporters in West Palm Beach. "We don’t expect government to solve every problem and we don’t think the government should help people who don’t want to even help themselves."
The president's message differed in style from the one he delivered last Friday in Roanoke, Va., when he told a crowd: "If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help … If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."
Since Mr. Obama's remarks a week ago, presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and others in the GOP have seized on the president's comments as proof that he doesn't understand or appreciate the American system of entrepreneurship.
Thursday night in Florida, Mr. Obama tried to clarify his thinking about the common good.
"We also remember that that GI Bill that educated so many people — we did that together," he said. "Hoover Dam, Golden Gate Bridge, we built together. The Internet was created because of investments that we made together. That’s how we sent a man to the moon — together. We’re not going to abandon those values and those traditions that ultimately made this the country that we love."

I guess removing the "work requirement" from receiving welfare is his way of being sure that the government doesnt help[ people who wont help themselves.
Obama doesnt even remember what lie he told last or that his executive orders and edicts are public knowledge.
is in , you owe alot of people alot of favors. This one statement proves that this
community organizer and his " never been proud " wife have NEVER believed
in the American dream. Hard work , personal sacrifice and desire to better ones
self are all things that are good , but without government roads , schools and
algore's internet , they mean very little in the way of realization of this dream
If this one statement does not reveal to you the empty soul of this marxist wannabe,
then you're not hearing what you're listening to.
Time for this loser to get off the stage ...no one is listening anymore to the lawless traitor with his obvious and pathetic lies ....
Like the Government mobilizes hundreds or thousands to build a new damn or irigation system while Building Socialism!
Yes, it's America, and we're all in this together. The rich want an aristocracy, but we're going to stop it.
Someone will always be on top, what matters is giving those below more freedom for upward mobility.
The aristocracy will NEVER give "those below" (love that) ANYTHING.
We "below" need to TAKE our Freedom and Justice, not wait to be "given" it by our "betters".
My point is We, the little people do need to be concerned with Our ability to use our skills and talents to Our benifit as much as possible. And a bigger more powerful government, of any brand, will impose limits on Us, not the wealthy or connected.
THAT'S WHAT AMERICA WAS SUPPOSED TO STAND AGAINST.
Don't you GET it? Liberty and Justice FOR ALL??
And if the wealthy OWN the government, we "little people", as you put it (I prefer the term "American citizens") are out of luck, huh?
Smaller Government = more responsible government.
Don't you understand? That's how they WANT it.
Smaller government = impossible with corporate ownership.
Throwing over one for another will not work, we citizens have to work to be heard again.
No Alinsky tactics. No defaming, distraction, or blaming . . .
just a strawman argument.
Nobody is against public works projects like the Hoover dam.
So his point doesn't have much point.
Why doesn't he save his breath for talking about how he's going to fix America.
But yes, he wants an oligarchy of the 'elite' to steer mankind in the direction that they see fit.
