Obama Fail? Carter Accuses Obama of 'Widespread Abuse of Human Rights'. Rave this if you agree!

Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter is accusing the current president of sanctioning the "widespread abuse of human rights" by authorizing drone strikes to kill suspected terrorists.
Carter denounced the Obama administration for "clearly violating" 10 of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, writing in a New York Times op-ed on Monday that the "United States is abandoning its role as the global champion of human rights."
"Instead of making the world safer, America's violation of international human rights abets our enemies and alienates our friends," Carter wrote.

I very much appreciate that, my friend. I think you *are* every bit as thoughtful: They say the sign of a strong intellect is the ability to change one's mind when warranted.

I'm just glad to see others who are willing to consider and explore also, regardless of who might be 'right'. That's what it's all about.

Carter isn't going to fair well in a FEMA camp. He can enjoy the fruits of the orchard he planted now, could be he will have his human rights abused next. His offspring have gone rouge. Sorry Jimmy, this one got away from you.

Obama's continuation of the drone strikes is one of the few things I can say I like about him. Carter, on the other hand, STFU.

Remember, Pakistan is harboring sworn enemies of the US.

I am going to fence-sit on this one.
While I am never a proponent of killing, the assassination of Bin Laden was, in my opinion, appropriate. Taking out terrorists before they can do harm is also an appropriate action. But then there is the slippery slope of deciding who is a terrorist and who is not.
We must be careful not to disregard the feelings of potential allies in these matters.

If they aid, harbor, hide, support, ignore the presence of known terrorists in their own homes or nation-they are complicit.

Just like here, when a household knowingly harbors a criminal. Guilt by association and aid.

Bombing a country we are not at war with and killing its citizens should be considered a human rights violation as well as a war crime.
