Obama Donates 7 Alaska Islands to Putin for Zero Dollars:
This is what our beloved president Obama has done in 2012 for America so far this year. This was just sent to me, and got very little press to keep it unknown from the American public. Please read the following to see what is happening. Why is he getting away with all of this? Is there a "REST OF THE STORY"?
This article on Feb. 16, 2012 appears in very few places. Apparently, the regular "professional reporters" consider Obama giving away islands belonging to Alaska and part of the United States as no big deal. Obama is giving these islands to Russia for free, no cost, $zero money or any other consideration. Guess what? The state legislature in Alaska (still one of our 50 states) voted several times in opposition to THE GIVEAWAY! The islands have billions of barrels of OIL and Obama could let oil companies lease parts of the islands and start drilling for MORE OIL!! Should you suspect Obama was trying to sneak this by...? Why??

WorldNetDaily.com <http://worldnetdaily.com// . Obama's State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to the Russians. Yes, to the Putin regime in the Kremlin. The seven islands in the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea include one the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. The Russians are also to get the tens of thousands of square miles of oil-rich seabed's surrounding the islands. The Department of Interior estimates billions of barrels of oil are at stake.

The State Department has undertaken the giveaway in the guise of a maritime boundary agreement between Alaska and Siberia. Astoundingly, our federal government itself drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side. But as an executive agreement, it could be reversed with the stroke of a pen by Pres. Obama or Sec. Clinton. The agreement was negotiated in total secrecy! The State of Alaska was not allowed to participate in the negotiations, nor was the public given any opportunity for comment. This is despite the fact the Alaska Legislature has passed resolutions of opposition - but the State Department doesn't seem to care.

The imperiled Arctic Ocean islands include Wrangel, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta. Wrangel became American in 1881 with the landing of the U.S. Revenue Marine ship Thomas Corwin. The landing party included the famed naturalist John Muir. It is 3,000 square miles in size.

Northwest of Wrangel are the DeLong Islands, named for George Washington DeLong, the captain of USS Jeannette. Also in 1881, he discovered and claimed these three islands for the United States. He named them for the voyage co-sponsor, New York Citynewspaper publisher James Gordon Bennett. The ship's crew received a hero's welcome back in Washington, and Congress awarded them gold medals.

In the Bering Sea at the far west end of the Aleutian chain are Copper Island, Sea Lion Rock and Sea Otter Rock. They were ceded to the U.S. in Seward's 1867 treaty with Russia.

Now is the time for the Obama administration to stand up for U.S. and Alaskan rights and invaluable resources. The State Department's maritime agreement is a loser - it gives us nothing in return for giving up Alaska's sovereign territory and invaluable resources. We won the Cold War and should start acting like it. Also see Link 1,2 below

Where do you guys come up with this nonsense? The islands in question have been recognized as Russian territory since the turn of the 20th Century. And in fact, the treaty that formally recognized the current maritime boundaries was signed by George H.W. Bush in 1991 and ratified by Congress (both Alaska Senators voted in favor of it). The islands are all close to the Russian mainland and the United States has never made a serious claim to them.

The United States claiming these islands would be the equivalent of France claiming title to Nantucket.

FactCheck: The US has NEVER, under ANY President EVER claimed ownership of these islands. The Senate voted in 1991 by an 86-6 margin (with both of Alaska's Senators in favor) to establish the maritime line as it is now which clearly has the islands in the heart of Russian seas. http://www.factcheck.org/2012...

The more important question is how did you become so stupid you believe this nonsense. The treaty was signed by George H. W. Bush, dumbass.

Conservative women inhabit a political ideology dominated, in part, by talk radio's conservative, misogynist pimps who profit from the use of fear, division, and hatred, in the form of racism, sexism, and religious bigotry, to advance a very narrow, selfish agenda.

Trapped in such an environment, they desperately seek a way to free themselves from the oppression imposed upon them by the white misogynist pimps who dominate their lives and thoughts to the point where they become a mouthpiece for the very pimps who work to oppress them.

In an exhibition of just how desperately inferior conservative women feel within the conservative, misogynist world they choose to inhabit, these women use sites like Sodahead in a cliquish nature that is more reminiscent of nine year olds than it is of adults.

In an earlier time and place, another woman trapped in a conservative misogynist world and seeking to find some form of self-expression, gave away her body to the pimps of Rome. Sadly, some conservative women give away something far more precious, their souls.

FactCheck.org is the latest to look into an old conspiracy theory -- recently promoted online by failed Alaska U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller -- that President Obama is trying to hand over to Russia some supposedly oil-rich Alaska islands.

All [the islands] are far closer to the Russian mainland than to the Alaskan mainland. All lie on the Russian side of the U.S.-Russia maritime boundary set by a treaty that the U.S. Senate ratified overwhelmingly more than two decades ago, after being signed by President George H.W. And sure enough, no president or secretary of state since has shown any interest in disputing the Soviet/Russian claim to Wrangel Island or the others. Which brings us to the present accusation that President Obama is somehow giving away something the U.S. has never claimed to own. How can that be?

[Carl] Olson believes that the United States has lost three groups of islands: one off the coast of Alaska, one in the central Pacific, and one in the Caribbean. He asserts that some of the lost Alaskan islands -- there are eight in all, including Wrangel Island, which he describes as being "the size of Delaware and Rhode Island combined" -- were acquired from Russia in the 1867 Alaska Purchase and that the rest were claimed for the United States upon their discovery, by various explorers, in 1881. Today, though, they are all claimed by Russia -- something that is not contested by the United States. This bothers Olson. A lot. He filed several inquiries with the State Department and never, he says, received a satisfactory response.

Was that treaty ever ratified ? Don't think that actually happened did it ?

As of the last election those living on Wrangel island are American Citizens , born on American soil and eligible to qualify as natural born citizens, if they wished to run for political office .

As Obama is the President , yes he takes responsibility for HIS actions and cannot claim the fault of presidents past . This is now Obama's baby , what he does is strictly on his own head.

Regarding Wrangel Island, the first formal claim was made by the Soviet Union in 1926, and has never been challenged by the United States Government. The only reason a new reaffirmation was negotiated in 1990 was because the Soviet Union had ceased to exist and we were regularizing relations with the post-Soviet Russian government. It is not true that anyone born on Wrangel Island can claim US citizenship by virtue of being born there (although it's nice to know that you agree that parental citizenship has nothing to do with Presidential eligibility). It is and has been Russian territory for almost a century.

On June 1, 1990, Secretary of State James Baker signed an executive agreement with Eduard Shevardnadze, the former U.S.S.R. foreign minister. It specified that even though the treaty had not been ratified, the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. agreed to abide by the terms of the treaty beginning June 15, 1990. The Senate ratified the U.S.-U.S.S.R. Maritime Boundary Treaty in 1991, which was then signed by President George Bush.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Finally, it is not true that a President can abrogate a ratified treaty with the stroke of a pen, and it is ridiculous to even suggest that a Secretary of State could do so. Besides, I thought you folks didn't want President Obama signing any executive orders.

The US ratified the treaty , it was the Russians that never validated it .
Looking at the links above , The state of Alaska , Fish and Wildlife , USDA all considered Wrangel Island to by US territory as of 2008 ( need to call the numbers listed for current status ) .

The issue of these Islands ownership only took on heightened interest with the prospects of the Law of the Sea Treaty that raised the stakes on ownership.

Wrangell, Alaska is located on the southern strip of Alaska:

Wrangell Island is located just off the northern coast of Siberia:

Your second link also doesn't address the Wrangell Island that is in controversy. It is described in the USDA report as:

"Wrangell Island is a 200 square mile island located in the south central portion of the Alexander Archipelago commonly known as Southeast Alaska"

    This is the Alexander Archipelago:

Here it is, the Islands were sold by Russia in 1867 and paid for by the US. That means they are part of the US territory and obama had no right to partition Alaska and give the Islands to Russia. It does not matter how close to the mainland of Russia they are.

These islands have pretty much always been considered Russian territory. If you look at a map you will see that they are just off the Russian coast and nowhere near the Alaskan mainland.
