OBAMA CREATING AFRICAN AMERICAN EDUCATION OFFICE. WHY NOT ONE FOR WHITES?

The US Supreme Court ruled in Plessy v Ferguson (1896) that "separate but equal" was Constitutional. The US Supreme Court ruled in Brown v Topeka (1954) that "separate but equal is inherently unequal' and therefore un-Constitutional.

Once again, Obama substitutes his Imperial views for that of duly enacted statutes and Supreme Court decisions.

The statistics aren't on the side of whites when it comes to disadvantages in education. You need to create something for a group that is doing better than the rest. That's like creating welfare for the rich.

because it's already been created.. records show a systematic neglect and ignoring students of color. It first manifests itself by the way states colllect taxes and routinely assign those monies to favorate districts that always fail to properly give equal funding to black concentrated schools. My sister is/was a PHd education professional and witnessed it happen time after time for the past 30 yrs

If the statement is true about creating African America education office: President Obama is making right what was wrong. Previous presidents should have been making right what was wrong. More black people are at the lower economic level than white people. and most likely it has something to do with education. White folks have always had chance and freedom to attend any school they want to. That had not been so for the blacks.Hopefully this education office will look into the problems dealing with the education of blacks ex: getting access to college funds, getting high grades in order to attend college, etc.White folks don't need an education office. They have always had freedom to go to any school they want to go to and have access to all the funding they need for college.

That probably is the case when better teachers and equipments are used with the funds.

that's because 'better' is better... but it should not be implied that black kids only perform better with white intervention. My 2 sisters, both with PHds fought the good fight with over 50 yrs between them of teaching in public schools with students of all colors. The same would hold true for students of any color; they taught a lot appalacian kids that others had written off. But then again, my one sister (the older one) attended a university around the same time it was barely legal for a black student to do so. I remember the car ride from upstate NY to D.C. and not being able to stop for anything other than gas along the motorway. No lodging, eating or loitering at a rest stop

You are right. Blacks can perform very well under any situation as long as they have good schools, good caring teachers, good books, good school equipments, and a home where parents are concerned and see to it that their chilldrens study. Although a few succeed with all odds stacked up againsst them. It doen't have to take white intervention for blacks to succeed in school. A number pf schools with predominantly blacks students are below standards ex: books, computers,and caring teachers. I have a friend who is a teacher but now she just substitues teaching. She substitutes at different schools. She says the different between schools with predominantly whites and predominantly blacks are like night and day.She says schools with good books, equipments and teachers with fewer students are the difference between predominantly white and predominantly black shools. Anyone can succeed in life if they want to and put forth efforts. Color has nothing to do with anyone being successful.
