Mohamed Morsi, a member of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood party, won the election in Egypt. President Obama called to congratulate Morsi and said the US will stand by Morsi during its transition. The transition may not go smoothly as the Egyptian military tries to hold onto power defiant of the Islamic extremists who now control the government.

"We look forward to working together with President-elect Morsi and the government he forms, on the basis of mutual respect, to advance the many shared interests between Egypt and the United States," press secretary Jay Carney said in a statement.

Politicio reports:PThe White House congratulated Egypt's president-elect Mohamed Morsi on his victory in that country's presidential election, calling it a "milestone" in the country's transition to democracy. President Obama called Morsi Sunday evening, telling him that the United States would stand by Egypt in its transitional period...

why in the world do people believe he has control over what goes on in other countries.
That man was voted into power by HIS people. and OUR president wants to help stabilize the region by possibly working with the new President of Egypt.
what exactly is wrong with that?

They find everything wrong in what Obama does. It doesn't matter to them how much good he's doing, they will find something to complain about. That's their nature.

he pulled American troops out of a war that was based on falsehoods, Iraq.
He extended gun rights to national parks
he increased military aid to Israel.
he set cash for clunkers which was a big success to help americans get into more fuel efficient cars.
    shall I go on?

The war in Irag that the Democratic Senate endorsed. He extended gun rights in National Parks, while supplying the drug cartels with ak-47's through fast & furious which resulted in the death of over 300 Mexicans including women and children, 1 border guard, and an ice agent. He increased military aid to Israel at the same time as he is sending our money to fund Hamas and the Palestinians and the Muslim Brotherhood. Cash for clunkers only rewarded those with money to get another car, but crushing all those cars means people with low funds now have no option for a used car that is affordable. Continue on if you can find something he did that actually benefited anyone below the poverty level.

I am not sure of your point.
what does extending gun laws have to do with Fast and Furious?
what does aiding Israels military have to do with Hamas humanitarian aid (odd that you didnt mention that is what the aid was for)
cash fro clunkers got polluting cars that burned up a lot of fuel off the streets. it helped revitalize the auto industries. and it did nothing to prevent low income people from buying cheap cars like you claim. (FYI the cars were not crushed, the engines were seized up but the parts were sold and used to rebuild/parts for vehicles) the cash for clunkers was not made to directly benifit anyone below the poverty level now was it?

I am not sure what you are talking about?
I gave you a list of things he has done to benifit Americans

    heres a few more.
repealed dont ask dont tell so that brave servicemen and women do not have to hide their relationships without fear of being kicked out.
    kept tax cuts for Americans.
    extended unemployment benifits
attempting to reduce WMD's all over the world.

You keep bringing up things that only help a small segment of Americans over the interest of the rest of us. Adding debt by extending unemployment benefits is just kicking the can down the road and adding to our deficit. Keep searching you might actually find something that is for all Americans, but I doubt it.

  • SoCalEx... Dion Pr... 2012/06/29 15:55:25

Not if its helping all Americans, but it didn't. I lost my job and didn't qualify because I worked through the SEIU, contract jobs aren't covered. If it worked for you bless you. I of course didn't know I wouldn't be covered after all the dues those bastards took from my check, I was sure I too would be covered. Unions aren't your friends, they only care about their own ass.

The muslim brotherhood leader will likely morph into a gov't run by a Caliphate. They have already questioned the future of the Peace treaty with Israel. How does that stabilize anything?

can you get me the lotto numbers in that crystal ball of yours?
and to answer your question, being diplomatic with the leaders of the world is a GOOD thing. It leaves options open to them helping us by not accepting terrorist groups and destroying them.
when we have better relations with the countries where the terrorist we are fighting have the religious majority to try to hide and recieve aid, It make the job of our intellegence agencies a hell of a lot easier.

Sow me one example of 0bama's ''talk nice to our enemies'' has resulted in any sort of break thru, or improvement for that matter.
''It leaves options open to them helping us by not accepting terrorist groups and destroying them.'' 0bama just endorsed a terrorist sympathizer!

''when we have better relations with the countries where the terrorist we are .......''
So how did that work out with Pakistan hiding Bin Laden, yards away from a major Pakistani army installation?

Obama is approving that for the first time in Egypt's 7000+ year history, that country had a democratic election and the citizenry could choose a leader. It used to be run by the military for the last 40= year, and that does not work.Look at North Korea, and other countries like that. They did not have many major parties to vote for,and the people did not want another military party running the country.
Just as the Rupublican party is backed by Christians, being in a majority Christian nation, the Egyptians voted for a Muslim backed party. There should be no surprise to that happening.

The truth of the matter is that diplomacy supercedes politics. You have to, as a Head of State or Government, publicly show friendship and support to a newly-elected government no matter its politics as a means of showing solidarity with the people of the country.
On top of that, the US has a pretty strong record of helping suppress and oppress the Egyptian people by propping up Mubarak for so long, so they really dont have a choice...

Morsi has already stated that their relationship with Israel will be redefined and that they will establish closer ties with Iran. That clearly is a Muslim related policy and no way is in the interests of the US. There would also now be a renewed concern about the integrity of the Suez Canal treaties.

Congratulations is an expected diplomatic move and if Obama stopped there, it would be fine but to say the US will stand by them??? The ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood is virulently anti-Semitic anti-Western and anti-democratic in principle. Democracy has it's uses but once in power it is dropped.
