Obama Cites Tax Dodger Marc Anthony to Push Higher Taxes
Tuesday, President Obama attacked Mitt Romney and Republican lawmakers for opposing increased taxes on the rich. The President referred to himself and singer Marc Anthony, who performed at the event, as examples of those individuals who would ideally pay more under his plan:
Governor Romney disagrees with my vision. That's what democracy is all about: we choose. His allies in Congress disagree with my vision. They've got a different approach. Neither of them will endorse any policy that asks folks like me or Marc Anthony to pay even a nickel more in taxes.

However, Anthony may not be so eager to contribute more to the Federal Treasury. The singer has been cited for millions in unpaid taxes multiple times over the years:
According to a New York judgments and liens filing dating back to March 29, Anthony (under his real name, Marco Antonio Muniz), was hit with a tax lien on some property he owns in Long Island. But that's not the only time he's failed to pay the government its due.
The Latin popster also had a lien filed against the same piece of real estate in December of 2009, this one for $1.6 million, bringing the total amount owed to the IRS to a whopping $3.4 million.
...
In 2007, the crooner paid $2.5 million in back taxes to federal and state goverments for failing to file returns on nearly $15.5 million in income over a five-year period.

I'm not against a fair tax system, but what we have now is not fair and whenever there is a push to make it more fair by increasing the taxes on the rich, that increase ends up on the middle class.

And PP, you are aware that the top 1% already pay 37% of the tax revenue. And the top 50% of earners pay 97% of the tax burden. So who is it that's getting raped again?
Maybe the folks who aren't paying any taxes at all could show a little gratitude or at least stop bitching!
The folks who aren't paying any taxes at all aren't paying taxes because they are too poor to be able to survive as it is. They should be grateful that Republicans have sent millions of American jobs to China? They should be thankful that unions that protect the rights of actual working people have been under constant assault for the last 30 years, resulting in massive suppression of wage gains by working people (while the richest Americans' income has risen about 400% over the same period)? They should be happy that Congressional Republicans are blocking an American Jobs Act that will create another 3 million American jobs?
By the way PP, it's this kind of progressive crap that pushed business out of America in the first place.
And by the way, it's been the unions fueling the democrat party for decades. Shaking down their membership for dues (and recently special assessments) that are passed on to the democrat party. All for favorable treatment in legislation. It was the same kind of thing that the citizens finally realized in Wisconsin recently when Governor Scott walker prevailed over the unions and beat the recall effort.
Blatent lies and deception don't work so well any more PP. People are getting wise to the progressive trickery.
Guess tax tax tax is fine as long as it's not their money you're taking.
