Obama Celebrates Anti-Police Riot Started at Mafia-Owned Bar for Transvestites

Next thing ya know the bamster will tell us he was there as an 8 year old and did all the organizing of the event, and that's why he's "evolved" so quickly on the issue. Maybe it's time for another "Beer summit," or something.

(CNSNews.com) - At a White House reception held Friday evening in honor of Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Pride month, President Barack Obama celebrated a 1969 anti-police riot that started in what the New York Times reports was an illegal Mafia-owned bar for transvestites

“Together we’ve marked major milestones like the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, when a group of brave citizens held their ground against brutal discrimination,” said Obama. “Together, we’ve honored courageous pioneers who, decades ago, came out and spoke out; who challenged unjust laws and destructive prejudices. Together, we’ve stood resolute; unwavering in our commitment to advance this movement and to build a more perfect union.”

The “Stonewall Riot” that president Obama referred to started when police raided a New York City saloon called the “Stonewall Inn” that catered to transvestites. In a 2010 obituary for Seymour Pine, the police inspector who led the raid, the New York Times reported the basic facts of the incident, describing the inn as "an illegal club frequented by cross-dressers."

“About 200 people were inside,” said the Times. “When the officers ordered them to line up and show identification, some refused. Several transvestites refused to submit to anatomical inspections. Word of the raid filtered into the street, and soon hundreds of protesters gathered outside, shouting ‘gay power’ and calling the police ‘pigs.’

“The turning point came when a lesbian fought with officers as she was pushed into a patrol car,” said the Times. “The crowd rushed the officers, who retreated into the club. Several people ripped out a parking meter and used it as a battering ram; others tried to set fire to the club. It took police reinforcements an hour and a half to clear the street.

I must admit I was wrong when I thought Clinton had dishonored the Oral Office.
New depths of depravity and debauchery are created daily by Obama.

Good for Obama standing up against the police who harassed people for being gay, lesbian and bisexual. As for the police being called pigs well "holy crap batman" it's been done forever. And as my nephew and godson is a policeman I am not against the police but sometimes those who give the orders are in the wrong. If they were straight their would have been no police there. It just shows what a bigot someone is and that person knows who they are.

It is funny isn't it......How many bars sell drugs in them and give out booze to under age drinkers? Criminally own bar. That can be almost any bar. I've see it first hand.

Stonewall marked the beginning of the Gay Rights Movement. It sparked the founding of at least two major Gay Rights Groups, and inspired millions of gay persons from around the entire country to fight for their rights provided them, as Americans, to pursue life, liberty and happiness

I think President Obama is right to call this a major milestone. (The 40th anniversary was three years ago)

I'm glad to still be here to see this. We have lost too many children through bullying that leads to suicide. I can't even begin to understand anyone who would be so heartless, so self depraved that they attack others in this manner. We are as we were born. DNA is our map at birth and we love who we love male or female. Love has no boundaries, it just is ;-)

Stonewall is worth celebrating. Can you imagine requiring people in a bar to submit to "anatomical inspections"? The people who resisted the police were indeed courageous pioneers. Like those who resisted the government in the Boston Tea Party.

They were not mobsters dressed like women. There were drag queens, transsexuals, and gay people whom the police had repeatedly harassed because they were different, and because many of the establishment people in the community did not want them there. The LGBT people stood up for themselves and refused to submit to continued police harassment. It was a lot like Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat. And it was the beginning of the LGBT equality movement. And, yes, I am good with what happened. Not so good with the spin that modern right wingers like to put on it, but I am good with what happened.

What is the relevance of the ownership of the bar? I mean, other than to try to trash the expression of freedom that occurred that night.?
