Obama Campaign Sues to Restrict Military Voting
Obama, like many Democrats, like to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, likes to be seen visiting troops and photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election?
On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."
Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis", I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.
The National Defense Committee reports:
[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.
Personally, I think its unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn't make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place.
If anyone proposes legislation to combat voter fraud, Democrats will loudly scream that the proposal could "disenfranchise" some voter, somewhere. We must ensure, they argue, that voting is easy and accessible to every single voter. Every voter, that is, except the men and women of our military.
Make no mistake, the Democrat lawsuit is intended to disenfranchise some unknown number of military voters. The judge should reject it with prejudice.

Having said that, my Marine son actually said the Brits were pretty cool dudes!
To be honest, they have long enough to vote. It's not as if postal vote is impossible or nominating a representative. A deadline 'should' be a deadline. That means...for everyone involved.
Why not give doctors/nurses/surgeons/law-e... and so on and so forth the extension? What exactly makes the military so special?
The military put their lives on the line to defend america...I get that.
The police put their lives on the line to defend america AND it's citizens EVERY day.
The fireman put their lives on the line by going into very dangerous situations every day to save American lives.
The Doctors and Nurses put hundreds of hours a week into saving American lives, caring for American people, providing relief and healthcare, thus supporting the American economy.
The military...are the dogs of government, they go and fight whatever president is in the whitehouse's illegal wars...remember Iraq? Sure, they should be respected and commended for doing their duty, putting their lives on the line on the command of their superior...regardless of the reason...(Can you say: Gullible). They should also be commended for helping to train and assist thousands of Iraqi's, Afghans and providing peace keeping relief around the world when they aren't fighting silly wars. However. Exactly how is this different or greater than what a larger number of American citizens do in their own country every day?
Bullets you say? Police, SWAT (world renowned), FBI, Customs, Coastguard I return. Yet they don't get an exception?

They're not special, they don't deserve extra voting rights than the ordinary american citizen. What they deserve is first class class training, better supplies and resources, better man power and extra holidays to see their partners and children.
The House of Windsor is German...originally named the House of Hamburg.
I'll go further, our banks are bankrolled by the Germans. Have been for some time even before the EU was formed.
As for some information, I'm also part german and I do speak a little german myself.
Nice how you caused yourself to lose by bringing up World War II.

I am aware that mail does take longer to reach those on the front lines and it normally takes about six days for them to get any mail and that's 1st class. However there is also by proxy if mail isn't suitable.
