How do you like this? Now Barack Obama has a portrait bust of himself in a major US city. Well, maybe you don't call Trenton, NJ exactly major, as cities go. But it's still the capital city of a Blue State.
The controversy over where the money came from to make the Obama bust is juicy enough. Seems the Mayor is under indictment for corruption, and decided to distract attention. So he commissioned this bust of Obama, and paid $1000 in city funds for the little plinth it rests on. He raised $4700 from eight donors--and four of them said later, "We gave, but we felt we had to." Really?
Here is the bust:

It looks very much like this bust of Julius Caesar, that dates back to Caesar's Dictatorship.
Is that who Obama thinks he is? Caesar?

If I am ridiculous, you are presumptuous.
I am not talking about differing opinions. I am talking about 'others' telling people what topic is acceptable and what can be discussed and call them ridiculous for their opinion and choice of topic. If people want to discuss the Trenton statue, they are free to do so. They can comment in any way they wish. You have no right to tell people they should do other things than discuss the bust. Though you couch your comments as an opinion, they are a way of telling others they should not be talking about the bust, and should be doing something else. Just say, it is ugly, no I like it, or something in that vein. Agree or disagree, not tell others they are wasting their time. In fact, if they want to waste their time on making comments on the poll, they are free to do so, it is their time to waste.
I am not against the blocking feature. Sometimes you just have to block when people will not leave you alone, will not respect your wishes when you say 'no more,' or, 'this conversation is ended,' or they keep being nasty. Though it does not stop them trashing your reputation to others and the block feature is abused, but it should remain.
People very much have the right to state their opinion on what is posted on a public MB including that they think it is ridiculous. If being told something you say is ridiculous makes you feel as if you are being told you can't discuss it that is your problem. My opinion on the bust at issue is that it's a bust. period. And to worry that it somehow indicates the collapse of the U.S. is, IMO, silly. Nobody controls what anybody else posts. You can only control what you, yourself post.
They have no right to say it is ridiculous. They either post because it is something that interests them, or they do not and find something that does.
No, it is your problem. You do not have the right to tell people they are ridiculous for what they say, or the poll owner is for his question, or topic. SH agree with me and are looking into giving poll owners the power to remove people like you and troublemakers, plus any offending material and comments.
