Obama and Immigration: Is he right?

President Obama's memo to direct the Justice Dept. to not deport undocumented immigrants is a historic and long overdue move. Many of these young people have served in the military on deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many have obtained a college education and work to improve America's economy. But many citizens are still holding on to parochial attitudes which speak more about their ignorance than genuine concern.
Many of the vocal opponents which decry President Obama's move are misguided. Mired in personal issues which involve bigotry and hate, these individuals mistakenly believe their opposition is morally right. What is morally right is to welcome these young immigrants to America, the land of immigrants.

    He is wrong and shows his inability to be a leader and take it to congress and pass anything. We need a leader not a dictator! Obama skirted the law!

    He's stepping around Congress and buying the Latino vote, that's all. As usual it's all about him and nothing else. Obama will beg, buy, cheat, borrow, or steal to get back into the White House. He's a failure and a disgrace. NOBAMA in 2012!

    It is illegal this decision he made to not hold to the Constitution and give congress a vote , so it does nothing for the illegals . How can you just cut out a large group of people and not have them have to abide by our laws , when you pledged to uphold them ? oh right , you can't.....

    Obama has overstepped his authority. The Supreme Court has ruled that the Congressional power to regulate naturalization, from Article 1, Section 8, includes the power to regulate immigration (see, for example, Hampton v. Mow Sun Wong, 426 U.S. 88 [1976]). The Executive has no such authority. Obie-amnesty is illegal.

    Congress needed to vote on it, the idea was not out of line but the way he went about it was wrong and unconstitutional. We the people had no representation.

    but there is a LEGAL way to become 'American'...

    How do these people obtain college educations, and join the military ?
