Obama, after gutting welfare reform: ‘Americans can’t be looking for handouts’

President Obama, one day after reversing the Bill Clinton-era
welfare reform by severing the connection between work and welfare
assistance, warned a Virginia crowd that “Americans can’t be looking for
handouts.”





“Americans can’t be looking for handouts,” Obama said during a
campaign stop in Virginia. “There are some folks you can’t help if
they’re not willing to help themselves.” Moments later, he invoked
former President Clinton as a model for economic leadership: “Bill
Clinton did it, and we ended up having 23 million new jobs,” Obama
added.


But he was referring to Clinton’s tax policy, not the welfare reform
bill undermined by his Department of Health and Human Services
yesterday. HHS informed states that they may “test alternative and
innovative strategies, policies and procedures that are designed to
improve employment outcomes for needy families,” rather than enforce the
work requirements attached to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.


“Obama’s suspension of workfare requirements is almost certainly
illegal, a sign of the jobs failure, and a reminder how liberal [O]bama
is,” Newt Gingrich, who negotiated the welfare reform with Clinton as
House Speaker in 1996, said in a tweet.

    Is that why social security recipients haven't had a cost of living increase since he took office-he's giving it all over to welfare? He's a scumbag. Seniors and dependents have to suffer why those welfare jerks spend their checks on booze and drugs. Only in Obamanation.

    most folks would rather work than collect any type of assistance ,, but with few viable gainfull postitions avail ,,,what is a person to do ???

    Obama is toast in November 2012. Landslide defeat headed his way, and he knows it. It's the lame duck session that has me worried. He and his handlers will be pulling out all of the stops to kick those legs out from under all of us Americans in the shortest period of time. And with a complacent media, think how much he and company will get away with?

    "Americans can't be looking for handouts." He doesn't mean one whit of this sentence, it's purely political rhetoric to buy himself some votes from the right and/or libertarians. Somehow, somewhere, there's going to be new taxes attached to this. This guy does not change his spots and his sports are more people on the government dole, and more, and more, and more.

    Heck, these days he doesn't even have to push, you just have to go to whatever website has been created to "give" assistance. The more the merrier on some sort of gov handout for these guys - it equals lots and lots of votes and almost assures "no going back."

    That's why many of the long term unemployed in my state have to wait in line because of Obama tax breaks given to hire welfare people first ... and these are people who arent even looking for a job. He is a very screwed up individual.
