True strength of character on the cops part. It's too easy to become complacent when you see the ugly side of life so much and for that officer to see and meet a need for someone who can give nothing in return is a wonderful thing.

Yes it was very nice of him. I can't believe that anyone would vote no, maybe sour grapes because they didn't get a helping hand when they needed it.

There are lots of special people in the world, and this officer is one of them. Without such
persons the RWNJs would have advantage and we would all be shivering on sidewalks without shoes. Congratulations to the Officer for his humanity. I hope someone in N.Y. sends him a check for $Ten Million with which to start a charity to pay for similar gifts to
the homeless and needy.

A little compassion goes a long way in the hearts of people. I've learned that by being kind to random strangers; you'd be surprised how even a simple compliment could make someone smile.

He should charge the person for trespassing and 50 other possible counts and make money for magistrate. Police officer should be charged for treason, tax evasion and support of terrorism

It's about time I hear a story about a hero cop. There are plenty of em out there--but of course they remain unreported for the most part. I get sick of the constant misrepresentation of the police.

Police get such a bad rap. Good to see them glamorized a little.

It was way beyond that. sweet didn't cover compassion and integredy, or the leadership qualities he displayed displayed when no one was looking, this used to be common and his example my rekindle someone elses compassion to reapeat that deed, that's a great story

Shows us he has a heart, which more of us need.

It'll take a lot more stories like this to rebuild my faith in the police, but this was an excellent start.

Totally and this country would be 100% better off if we all followed his lead.

I saw this guy on TV . . . And he is one of those "Special People" alright . . . . He was saying, also, that as soon as the Shoe Clerk recognized what was taking place, then he too contributed to the cause, by including a "discount" on the final selection of boots that were sold in that particular transaction . . . Yes, this is A Good Story . . .

Similar story. My son and I sat eating breakfast one morning in Texas. Some old dude in poor health was brooding over a cup of coffee. Coughing and fidgeting, dressed very poorly. I asked the waitress if the old dude had eaten, she says "No - he just ordered coffee". I told her to bring him a breakfast plate - same thing the son and I were eating. Old guy thanked her profusely, believing that she had supplied his breakfast. That was cool - I didn't need the thanks or anything. BUT - when I went up to pay my check, the young lady didn't want to take my money. She said that she felt guilty for not thinking to feed the old guy.

I ended up leaving what I owed on the table, along with a twenty. I have little idea whether it became a tip, or if she fed the old guy another meal or two. It didn't matter - simply acting on the old man's behalf made the waitress aware that he needed help.

Sometimes, a small action can grow into something bigger.
