A Queens teacher has been banned from all city schools after he allegedly made inappropriate comments and gestures during a sexual education class.

Former students told CBS 2′s Jessica Schneider that Dyrel Bartee, a teacher at Grover Cleveland High School was getting too explicit in his descriptions.

He has been accused of spreading his legs to demonstrate childbirth and grabbing his crotch to emphasize a point about sexually transmitted diseases.

he was my teacher for 2 years. he was weird, creepy, and racist against whites, i was the only white student that attended his 1st period classes made me super uncomfortable. im not surprised by this, which is sad, only because of how he acted in all the other classes i have been in. he was a horrible teacher, the only reason he was liked was because he was always so slack in class and we did whatever we wanted.

My sex ed consisted of blasting away myths of sexual health, showing graphic images of "anatomy" and the correct usage of contraceptives (the whole, putting a condom on a banana thing.) If a teacher did what this guy did, however, they would be brought up on charges of lewd acts in front of minors.

The Horror, The Horror. Oh, Please!
If it's still like it was when I was a kid, you'd better never let them walk down the street in Little Italy, those kids would have a stroke from the gestures there.

He overdid it by too much. Of course, most of this is his fault. A small amount, however, is the fault of those who demand abstinence-only sex education. By trying to force students to not learn anything about sex, they leave their children open to this kind of nonsense. We need an actual curriculum on sex education to keep these kinds of things from happening.

Sounds like he was being deliberately lewd about the things he was teaching. He had to go.

There's got to be a happy medium between this and what they did at my school, which was assume that our parents had told us already and not talked about it at all.

Teenagers learn and remember best when something's done dirtily. I'm sure they won't forget that...

Sex ed's a "dirty" enough topic that no extra aids are required.

It would be best to let youngins learn sex ed from television and the internet like they always do, so this wont happen again(banned from all city schools :/ ).

I'd find it funny, but most wouldn't. It was a bad move on his part.

I know from experience Sex Ed is a hard class to teach, there is a thin line between appropriate and inappropriate. I dont thing the line was crossed, its different from when we were taught in the 60's

Sounds like it... Although I think it's pretty hilarious. Honestly, since they have their names, I think these kids just wanted to be in the news. Teachers did far more "explicit" things when I was in school. Heck, my school psychologist used I sell us cigarettes and let us skip in his "office"...

There are appropriate ways to teach about things like childbirth as well as STDs and his way was not it. In fact, it seems it was rather degrading. If the students felt so upset about his descriptions, then there was something wrong...
