NY Post’s Democrat Michael Goodwin: I am switching from Obama to Romney

"Each time I mention that I voted for Barack Obama in 2008, I get a blast from some who didn’t. “How could you be so dumb?” is a typical response to my confession.

It is certainly a confession — of error. Obama fooled me once, but not twice. I’m voting for Mitt Romney Nov. 6th...

Obama’s soaring rhetoric enticed me at first, and I agreed that a restoration of the Clinton presidency would be a bad idea. Still, I got a jolt of Messiah Alert when he said his rise marked the moment “when the planet began to heal.”

Where he totally fooled me was his claim to be a pragmatist, not an ideologue. He spoke of uniting the country and I believed he was capable and sincere. That he won 70 million votes and more than two-thirds of the Electoral College spoke to his appeal.

He failed as president because he is incompetent, dishonest and not interested in the actual work of governing. His statist policies helped consign millions of Americans to a lower standard of living and his odious class warfare further divided the nation. He had no intention of uniting the country — it was his Big Lie.

I don’t hate him. But I sure as hell don’t trust him.

As for the desperate charge that opposition to Obama makes me a racist, let me note that he was black when I voted for him.

Call me dumb, but I'm going to vote Obama no matter what

What a ridiculously dishonest OpEd peice. Either he is lying about his assertions or he is woefully naive to the make up of Romney and the GOP. Either way, what ever his opinion is if it changes yours, you're an idiot and your opinion is irrelevant. Its seems to be the flavor du jour to omit historical facts and replace them with ideals... that's the GOP, forget the 8 years of Bush, forget who spent what on what, and blame it all on Obama... you people deserve what you get

Do you blame anything on Obama, ever? Well, as other leftists you probably would blame him for he didn't go far enough in destroying this country.

I believe many voters bought into the lies Obama told. I did not vote for the man, and it had nothing to do with his color. I did not vote for him because of his lack of experience, pure and simple.

I have family and friends who were fooled by this con artist in 2008 (even after I repeatedly showed them who he was back then). They admit making a mistake and won't be making that same mistake in 2012.

Like I tell my 5 yr old, "it's okay to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them."

What I don't understand about these people that believed him in 2008, didn't they look at his back ground before they voted? This guy's past or lack there of sure gave it all away on where he stood to begin with. The church he belonged to, having an alias, the past of the people he hung with and most importantly the political party that his grandparents, his parents and his mentor Frank Marshall Davis belonged to. I refuse to vote for someone that demands everyone else show their past but there own doesn't matter. He's the Manchurian candidate. Goodwin is a journalist, he had access to that information better than the rest of us and he's just now seeing this guy is a lying sack?

It probably could be considered my opinion I guess but I think it's factual. Thanks for the thumbs up. I get accused of being a wingnut all the time but the last Republican I voted for was Ronald Reagan. LOL!

The only thing I can see in your post that would be difficult to prove in an unbiased court of law would be the Manchurian Candidate part. The rest looks pretty factual.

OH I totally agree with the Manchurian Candidate comment as well. I'm just saying that it would be the only statement that would require any real work to prove in an impartial court beyond a reasonable doubt. But I'm not saying I don't believe it. because I do. All the other things you could stand in a court room and show specific proof of each one of those statements. It would never actually be allowed to happen, I'm just talking from a theoretical point of view.

more and more people are seeing the light on this slight of hand bad magician; whose strobe lights and fog machines made him appear to be something he not.

An obviously well-thought out decision on his part. And very intelligent commentary.
