Not smart enough to get a voter ID? Not smart enough to vote!

I had to laugh out loud when I heard some of the things on The Five the other day. For instance Eric Holder talking against Voter ID’s. Are they saying that blacks are so stupid that they can’t do something SO SIMPLE as even go down and get an ID? LOLOLOL How can blacks not get insulted by that and speak out? If someone is that stupid, then they aren’t smart enough to be allowed to vote. And I liked how Alan West said “Are white liberals now the black’s ‘massers’?” It’s surprising that only conservatives see through those charades that are intended to ‘enslave’ blacks (which they are successfully doing).

Actually, I think he is more worried that many prospective 0bama voters may be arrested on warrants and parole violations.

The question itself makes a very good point. But the same ppl are able to get government assistance? Don't you have to have more ID for that?

the Socialists are against Voter IDs...claiming some violation of 'rights' and yet you need to show an ID for the following (at least)
    TO BUY BEER.
    TO BUY DRAINO.
    TO BUY SUDAFED.
    TO BUY CIGARETTES.
    TO GET ON A PLANE.
TO GET INTO MOST LARGE OFFICE BUILDINGS IN NYC.
To use a Visa card for large purchases.
To get into Warner Bros., Sony Entertainment, and Universal Pictures.
To acquire a Visa to travel outside the country, and to re-enter the country at the border.
    Open a bank account.
Cash a check at a bank.
    Drive a car.
    Tour a house for sale.
    buy a gun
    or ammunition,
    walk into Costco
    or Bjs,
return a item to a retail store,

It's simple, you either agree or disagree, you're either Not smart enough to get an ID and vote, or you're smart enough to get an ID and vote. Uninformed voting is as bad a voter fraud! Stupid people should stay home and watch TV all day!

Informed, uninformed, smart enough, not smart enough - NONE of those manner, since voting is a "basic civil right". One cannot put limits on a "basic civil right" except to withdraw that basic civil right as a part of a punishment under the law. ie having committed a felony; and even then the SCOTUS has hinted in several cases that even then that may not be constitutional. That is why we have the voting rights act of 1964 as a result of a Constitutional battle against EXACTLY what the Republican/Tea Party is trying to do all over again, -- treat people as second class citizens as a result of perceived defeciencies.

As I said your question and your answers are not attached to one another.

What kind of stupid question is this. The issue with voter ID laws has nothing to do with intelligence, it has to do with cost and access. Get a f*cking clue.

This 93-Year-Old Grandmother Is Suing Pennsylvania Over Voter ID Laws. Her name is Viviette Applewhite.

Fine. Be an ass, I don't particularly care. But you know what, chances are pretty f*cking likely if there's one like Viviette, there's more. Not that it appears you care if people are disenfranchised. Hey I know - let's go back to poll taxes. That way only the rich people can vote.

It means you are for voter fraud!

Let Voting to Felons, Dogs, the Dead?

Why not let dead people vote?

    Maybe I better explain.

A recent article in the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch says the Washington-based Voter Participation Center has sent voter registration applications — with names and addresses already filled in — to dead people, pets, felons, children, nonresidents, noncitizens and others who ought not be voting.

There is suspicion among some that the group, which targets Democrat voting blocs, such as unmarried people, blacks, Latinos and young adults, is trying to pad voter rolls with ineligible voters who are likely to support Democrats.

I am not for voter fraud. You can say it as often and as loudly as you want and it still won't be the truth. I am for making sure people who are eligible to vote are not prevented from voting. Read the link I posted if you think you have all the f*cking answers. That will tell you what I think of these laws that disenfranchise voters.

I feel sorry for the lady but this voter ID thing people have no one to blame but A.C.O.R.N.
This last election they registered so many people here in my tiny town...and that is where they mostly stayed in small towns with populations under 25K.
The boards of elections all over the country not only Pennsylvania and those states that currently have are sick and tired of the voter fraud.
And this crap about he not being able to get a state ID in PA that is just what it is BULL CRAP.. my 90 year old mother in law just got her state ID in Altoona...no questions asked and if you would have done what I did when she said she has tried for a long time to get a state Id you would have gone to the states web site like I did ...... http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/dr... .... maybe you want me to read it to you.
Here is you know her send her this...infact if she needs the $13.50 I will be ever so glad to send her the money.

Why are people so against voter ID?
If your against something generally it means that you have something to hide.
what is wrong with giving up your name, address, and date of birth...that all they want.
that way they can check against other precincts to see if you voted already if you did simple they tell you that you cannot vote because you voted at such and such poll located at 123 somewhere Street.
You get ticked off and leave it is that simple....why you making it out like you just robbed a bank?

I know how voting works. I've been doing it since 1972.

Because the type of laws being passed today disenfranchise voters. It harkens back to the Jim Crow days. Read my link from the Brennan Center for Justice.

Girl, I have not heard that name for ages....what on earth made you think of those days?
To be honest with you the last time I heard of that law was in the mid 1960's 1965 if memory serves me right.
Can I assume you were involved with the law?

No I wasn't, but I know about it - I try to study or at least be aware of significant historical matters. It is important to know and learn from the past. I think anything that disenfranchises voters is something we should be extremely careful about. Voting is our key to democracy. I certainly don't support, in fact I abhor, fraud. But I find anything that deters or prohibits eligible voters from exercising their rights equally abhorable.

And I firmly believe that a voters ID would eliminate this fraud.
Jas, I know people that carry every major credit card known to man...yet complain about having to show and ID declairing it is violating their rights..
declairing that it is violating their privacy...YET GIVE MORE INFORMATION TO A CREDIT CARD COMPANY THAN WHAT IS ON YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE.

There are people who do not have a photo ID and who do not have credit cards. I understand your statement, but it assumes everyone is the same and/or like you. They're not. Viviette Applewhite is 93 and is suing the state of Pennsylvania. Read about her case. She doesn't have a birth certificate any longer and trying to get one could be a major issue. Then there is a cost associated with that as well as access. And then she would have to get the photo ID. This can and will lead people to not vote.

There has to be a way for her to get some form of ID...I believe when I read it she stated that she drove at one time...but don't quote me...
She is just 5 years older then my mother in law and mom had no trouble getting her state ID...when they first came out....of course in the berg town, population 1100, everyone knew her.
As to your post below I also get ticked off when people assume something.
There are reasons for everything and maybe this sweet little old lady has her reason. Maybe she was born in a tiny town, and heaven only knows there are tons of them in PA, where the only vital statistics were your birth written in the famly bible or recorded in the church you belonged to.
But there are some out there that feel you need to be waiting on them hand and foot...like you owe them for being in this life.
btw....we have a new great grand daughter born just 30 minutes ago...they named her JASMINE ANNETTE
She is the most beautiful baby with a full head of hair...the grandson said she came out screaming .....

And no voter fraud is not all right with me... I'll copy what I just posted to Peanut9244 when asked about Jim Crow days and if I was involved in the law:

"No I wasn't, but I know about it - I try to study or at least be aware of significant historical matters. It is important to know and learn from the past.
