North Korea Wants To Discuss Nukes One-On-One With The United States: Should President Obama engage in one-on-one talks with North Korea?

SenorBabyMan July 27, 2009 19:15:24

North Korea has stated that they are willing to have a one-on-one discussion with the United States regarding the controversial issue of atomic bombs and nuclear weapons. The announcement suggests the communist nation, which has heightened tensions with a nuclear test and missile launches, believes it has raised the stakes enough and that it's time to negotiate one-on-one with America.
Yes. Obama should go one-on-one with North Korea.
No. North Korea is a waste of time, I see no threat.

We've been buying them off for too long. They scream 'nukes', we give them food. They threaten South Korea and Japan, we give them food. It's a really repetetive process.

They can't afford a war; they're broke and wars are expensive. Nobody will fund them.

Time to end it. Talk to them when the nukes are gone, and proven to be gone; not before.

We cant afford to think Kim Jong IL is bluffing or not. Obama should talk with them and arrange something that would prevent another useless war

Well, what the hell, do we want other people in the room?

Ambassadors are cheap, and do something once in a while. Just don't hold other actions up while you wait for the talks to end ;)

No.. we should be bitch slapping them for holding Americans as prisoners! A conversation will go nowhere.. Obama (or Hillary) will say "please dont make missles that could reach the US" and N. Korea will say "Ok" and they will do it anyways... We should do with Kim Jong Ill what we did with Sadam Hussein!

Yes. Obama should go one-on-one with North Korea.

What the heck, Obama prefers talking and diplomacy go for it... I hope that he doesn't offer them money like previous administrations have done in the past and that goes for both sides, dem, and rep. I don't think talking will do much good though as I see it just as a money grab for the north. And these people have been testing the US and others mainly us for a while since the Obama administration has taken over but I really really hope they do not give him money, because that seems to me over the last few decades that that was the only thing that kept that nut from doing some of the stuff he is doing now... I say squash his little head!

How rational and seriously democratic can one go in to a country that is making nazi germany look like a play ground?
  • AGPhillbin Keen To... July 28, 2009 00:41:48
    AGPhillbin
"Democratic?" what has "democratic" got to do with the question? Since when does "democratic" enter into diplomatic contacts? And exactly how is North Korea worse than Nazi Germany? How many million people have they killed, and how many countries have they conquered? I don't have to hang a picture of King "Dear Leader" Kim (and his predecessor, King "Great Leader" Kim) on my wall to know enough not to spout off about Nazi Germany every time I see some autocratic ruler.
