Japan's top-selling newspaper reports that North Korea, under intense pressure by the international community to halt its rogue nuclear program, may fire a long-range ballistic missile toward Hawaii. The Yomiuri daily, however, notes that the missile lacks the capability to reach the state's main islands. Obama declared North Korea a "grave threat."

I guess when you think about it, Hawaii should be THE most well protected state in the country during that period! It had better be. Either that, or my honeymoon is going to be one helluva "Blast!"

KJI shoud continue its "rogue" (defined by United Nations Terrorists) nuclear program, and deal with any threats made to North Korea (including threats of invasion from countries that will do so simply because they can afford to and can't stand to see far-off nations develop anything more advanced than the wheel)

There is a huge political risk in a missile defense failure. Prior tests have had mixed success. Could failure be the agenda for increasing Defense spending?

These guys are psycho. The good news is that Gates and Jones are on it, and we have a reinforced Carrier Group in the Sea of Japan. If NK does something really stupid, which is a distinct possibility, it will rain Cruise missles above the 38th parallel, and their nuclear threat will come to an end.
The potential exists for a real mess. Hopefully they're playing the 'I've threatened you now reward me' game they always do, and won't react stupidly when they lose this one.

9,220 potentially deadly Fort Detrick pathogens possibly missing
--FBI investigators concluded that Fort Detrick probably was the source of the anthrax spores used in the deadly mailings of 2001.
--Ebola virus, anthrax bacteria, botulinum toxin, hemorrhagic fever and others 'not accounted for' on 18 Jun 2009.
An inventory of potentially deadly pathogens at Fort Detrick's infectious disease laboratory found more than 9,000 vials that had not been accounted for, Army officials said yesterday, raising concerns that officials wouldn't know whether dangerous toxins were missing.
After four months of searching about 335 freezers and refrigerators at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases in Frederick, Maryland, investigators found 9,220 samples that hadn't been included in a database of about 66,000 items listed
as of February, said Colonel Mark Kortepeter, the institute's deputy commander.

Obama said that North Korea's record of threatening other countries and spreading nuclear technology around the world means it should not be recognized as a legitimate nuclear power.
At a missile defense hearing on Capitol Hill, Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn pointed to North Korea's recent steps to speed up its long-range weapons program and agreed with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that the U.S. should be prepared for a "worst-case scenario."

And for all you haters of the President, are you ready to go, or send your children and grandchildren, to fight in North Korea?
