The film studio that produced "The Dark Knight Rises" has donated more than $2 million to help pay for the medical bills to ease the suffering of the Colorado shooting victims. As the film is likely to make hundred of millions of dollars, do you think the studio should pick up the tab on all the medical costs or have they been generous enough?

No but if they did, it would be the most awesome PR campaign in movie history.

Even right-wingers like me would respect them more.

No, because the studio didn't cause the shooter to commit his crime. I'd say their $2-million dollar donation was timely and appropriate.

A lot of the 'no' responses mention the studio opening itself up to lawsuits or that they shouldn't be required to pay. But the question was just "should "WB" pick up the tab?". I think they should. It would be a nice gesture in this day and age where so many people are struggling just to get by. The studio will still make millions of dollars and if they were to voluntarily pick up the tab imagine the good will the studio would create for itself. Again, it should be VOLUNTARY.

Unfortunately, it won't happen. But that's ok too. What happened isn't the studio's fault. They're not obligated to pay.

The production company has no liability for this shooting. I think it was wonderful that they showed compassion and donated so much money to the victims fund. I'm sure that the theater has liability insurance and that will kick in as well. It's possible that the theater could be found to have some liability in this case. That exit door was propped open for quite sometime, there should have been some type of alarm to alert them to the fact that it was open. If there had been, the door would have been closed while he was in his car changing and he would not have been able to get back in. I've been in theaters when someone opens the exit door, some usher always showed up immediately to make sure it was closed. Perhaps they had a silent alarm or something, it always amazed me how ushers seemed to pop up out of nowhere when one opened. The door should have had more security. He had probable been there before and tested the door for an alarm.

That is nonsense. We have the right to own guns and the NRA just protects our constitutional right from people like you. If anything, the theater should have to pay because they do not allow law abiding citizens to conceal and carry. When you keep people from protecting themselves you assume responsibility for protecting them.

    It isn't the gun's fault.

It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the person holding it.

Responsibility seems to be something failing miserably these days.

You realize he made bombs too right? The IRA was known for building pop bombs with nails in them. Would hav whipped out the entire theater. Crazy people kill people. They banned guns in Chicago an that did not turn out so well did it? The more law abiding and responsible CC people there are the less crime. Bad guys will always have ways to kill mass people.

Joe Blow has his house burglarized, so he buys a gun to protect his property should it happen again. Why does he buy the gun? because it can kill the intruder.

He buys it to protect himself from bad people that will have a weapon no matter what. You are acting like he would be in the wrong. The criminal will be armed no matter what. If not a gun, than with a machete, and either way, the homeowners best bet is to have a 357 and be traine to use it. Guns are te great neutralizer. Should a 100lb woman live her live helpless o at a minimum b on the same exact footing.

My wife carries a 380 and likes it.

She has fired my 357 Magnum but still prefers her 380.

She does not "shoot to kill" though.

Her idea of the target is to shoot for the balls.

She has shown herself capable of doing so at the range.

     space balls
