Japan got hit with an 8.9 magnitude earthquake. Millions of people don't have water or power. Security forces have their hands full with rescue operations. Yet, we don't see any signs of looting. I saw a reporter ask the question on CNN as to why the Japanese haven't looter -- or if they will riot or loot. The reporter said the Japanese culture differs from American and other cultures, and he highly doubts they would react that way.
Americans have looted in America after natural disasters and other events. New Orleans suffered looting after the Hurricane Katrina disaster. A power failure in 1977 plunged New York City into darkness and, within minutes, looters made their way through the streets taking what they wanted.
America, however, shares this sad reflection of human behavior with other countries and cultures. Egyptians destroyed two ancient mummies and looted national museums in Cairo during the recent civil unrest that deposed Hosni Mubarak. Iraqis looted their National Museum, home of extraordinary Babylonian, Sumerian and Assyrian collections and rare Islamic texts during the war. Moscow suffered widespread by its residents before Napoleon Bonaparte's troops entered the city. French troops also looted Russia during Napolean's conquests.

You people think the Japanese are some kind of genetically altered species? They loot too. The media over here is extremely hesitant to ever put themselves in a bad light.

But those did not appear as public news.
This time, there are also some looting, but not bad as Kobe, just because it is not a big town.
If this earthquake had happened in Tokyo or Osaka, we would have much more looting.
I would be surprised to see looting take place should a disaster take place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Bend, Oregon, Spokane, Washington or San Angelo, Texas.
Some will loot. Others will not.
Anyone remember this?

While I'm sure that there will be noble souls rise to do the right thing in a disaster wherever one should happen, in some places there will be looting.
I will go so far as to say that square mile for square mile in this country, the ones that would have looting would be very few. Probably 99.8% of the square miles in this country there would be no looting at all. Most rural or semi-rural communities would have very little or no looting at all.
While there are some in this country who would loot, I'm sure that in most places in our great country, almost every person arriving on the scene would be helping their fellow people.

Okay, here goes:
If you look at video of the Katrina looting, as well as video of the looting during New York's big blackout in 1977 ... you cannot deny that most, if not all, of the looters were black.
I'm not saying most black people are bad; I'm not saying most black people are looters. But most looters seem to be black.
That's another reason why you're not going to see any looting or rioting in Japan. Take it to the bank. It won't happen.
Sorry, but let's call a square a square and let's call a circle a circle. Just telling it like it is.
"Egyptians destroyed two ancient mummies and looted national museums in Cairo during the recent civil unrest that deposed Hosni Mubarak".
- So they managed to recruit hundreds of negroes from da hood to do the Egyptians' own looting for them.
"Iraqis looted their National Museum, home of extraordinary Babylonian, Sumerian and Assyrian collections and rare Islamic texts during the war".
- Them negroes sure get around don't they?
"Moscow suffered widespread by its residents before Napoleon Bonaparte's troops entered the city. French troops also looted Russia during Napolean's conquests".
- Yep, the french definitely brought over some blacks from down sowf to do their robbing and killing, ask any russian and he'll tell you 'yes, it was them savage negroes'.
One common theme with looters is they're very often people who quite frankly couldn't care about harmony. Have little time for the well-being or the current state of the people in power, who have shown very little time for them historically.
Assuming you are from the USA, your very racist attitude will do nothing but exacerbate the animosity poor blacks have in your country. After all, its not as if they willingly came there.
Call me a racist if you want -- I don't care. I probably care about black people more than you do -- because you see them as perpetual victims who can't ever get over their poverty or their ancestors' slavery. I see them as fully capable human beings who shouldn't be defined by the members of their group who riot and loot -- but who too often are.
I'm not the one keying in on the stereotypes -- and I'm not the one defining an entire ethnic group by their past slavery and supposedly perpetual victim status. That's YOU doing that.
Duh !
Look around you. Too many people have this attitude that the MAN needs to be robbed and after suffering years of repression, its their right and duty to take it from others. After years of being treated like they are the poor, the repressed, the suffering, looting, amoung other things, are their way of 'getting my stuff'' that they couldn't get on their own merit. Many of their actions have been supported by various policitians and community people, that they actually believe it. Japan is a closed society and is very careful of who they allow into their country. And they don't walk around like they are owed something......for nothing. They stick together as a community and a people.........something we used to do up until recently.
