No GOP candidate for NY-25? And Dem candidate is Slaughter!?

Classical Liberal 2012/04/23 14:55:24
I live in New York's 25th Congressional District. Due to redistricting, 25th district incumbent Ann Buerkle will be running for the 24th district; and 28th district incumbent Louise Slaughter will be running for my district. It is past the candidate filing deadline and it appears that there is no Republican candidate.

This is no good, no good at all. Although it gives me even more motive to run in 2014...

I hope you do run. We need young liberty activists in there!

I feel for you. I'm stuck with Feinstein/Boxer myself. We need many more people like you to run for office in this country.

well, I'm not eligible for Congress until the end of 2013 (when I turn 25), so unfortunately I couldn't take advantage of the lack of Republican candidates... =/

    Why don't you run?

I've asked myself that many times. First of course is money. I don't have any. But also, it'd be really easy for a political opponent to drag up all kinds of dirt on me. I could be made to look downright evil with enough twists to the truth.

I also lack money, but I figure there's a way around it for a Congressional race, and that's to go door-to-door like a mormon missionary. =P

Obviously that wouldn't work so well with any bigger race. But for Congress, sure.
