LOL - uh, yeah.
Edit -
I don't know about it being too "risque." But "The first gay president" leaves one with the impression that he himself is gay. Pretty sure that would come as a shock to his wife. lol

It was kind of a big deal when Barack Obama became the first U.S. president to openly support gay marriage -- enough for the some to joke that he was "coming out of the closet," so to speak. But Newsweek took it a step further on the cover of this week's issue, dubbing Obama "the first gay president," along with an image of the president under a rainbow halo. It's a striking statement, no matter what side of the conversation you're on. But is it going a little too far?
Andrew Sullivan, an openly gay Newsweek journalist, wrote of Obama's announcement, "Like many others, I braced myself for disappointment. And yet when I watched the interview, the tears came flooding down. The moment reminded me of my own wedding day. I had figured it out in my head, but not my heart. And I was utterly unprepared for how psychologically transformative the moment would be. To have the president of the United States affirm my humanity — and the humanity of all gay Americans — was, unexpectedly, a watershed." Still, was Newsweek's cover a little too risque?

Yes

I can only think of one who has integrity & it seems that those who like to shout about the character of others all the time, insist on belittling & degrading him... especially because he actually has integrity.
If you want a picture of integrity, here it is:
If you want integrity, vote Ron Paul.
Keep voting mainstream candidates & keep getting exactly what you say you hate.
Ron Paul 2012
(Meant to Say Yes Darn)
He is the first to Support Gay Marriage. President Buchanan was THE First Gay President. There is even evidence in above article that shows he was gay.
We need to dump that agency asap, in my opinion, & get back to teaching kids instead of training them to take tests.
It's unbelievable... three spelling errors in one six-word sentence... & no punctuation.
This is America, the greatest country in the world, where The People can only just barely read & write.
ugh.
Just because you reach the end of the line of the "post comment" box, doesn't mean you need to hit the "enter" key to make it all stay the same length... and as you can see, it didn't... it looks more broken because of that, actually.
Anyhow, as for my feelings about the subject. I'm all for equality, I like that Barry is making his opinions public and is standing up for another minority... although I can see this as becoming another shell in the repubbies' shot gun when they're fishing for that evangelical Westboro / Phelps-tard vote.
Let's just hope that cooler heads prevail and we don't end up with another dinosaur-minded religionist hick in the White House.
My issue with seeing all the poorly written posts here & other forums is that our nation's education system is clearly failing our citizenry. Apparently people aren't even sure how to use spell check. It's frustrating to see. It shows either laziness & apathy or a completely ineffective national educational system. I cannot tell you how incredibly frustrating it was to receive business letters & even sometimes contracts with misspellings & grammatical mistakes. If a representative from an insurance company or a bank cannot take the time to proofread his/her writing for errors, then I simply can't do business with him/her. It's sloppy. Communication skills are vitally important. A misplaced comma, for example, can completely change the meaning o...&

Besides, doesn't anyone take any pride in themselves anymore? Everyone makes mistakes. No one is perfect. But geesh! It is very telling when people are unable or unwilling to form correct, complete sentences. If people living in the middle of Africa can do it pull themselves out of their situation(s), then the people of our nation, with the most opportunities in the world, certainly can.
Regarding the posted question, I really don't understand why government wants to be involved in marriage anyway. But since marriage licenses are issued by government & marriage is, essentially, a contract, preventing consenting adults from entering into a contract because of some form of discriminatory bias is unconstitutional. That's all there is to it. It is the President's job to protect the rights of all citizens. So, whether or not one agrees with or likes the idea doesn't really matter. Every citizen deserves equal protection under the law.
Now, that being said, government should never try to force any church to perform wedding ceremonies for those they do not believe should be married. The government cannot force churches to behave in ways contrary to their religions.
Romney=Obama.
Ron Paul 2012.
were in favor of Gay Marriage. He s no dummy he was after the votes.. G Campos
Gay and lesbian citizens did not cause the economic crash, foreclosures, and attack upon health care. Poor underfunded schools were not created because people desire equal protection under the law. We have much work to do as a community, and to claim the President of the United States must hold your theological position is absurd. He is President of the United States of America not the President of the Baptist convention or Bishop of the Sanctified or Holiness Church. He is called to protect the rights of Jew and Gentile, male and female, young and old, Gay and straight, black and white, Atheist and Agnostic. It should be noted the President offered no legislation, or executive order, or present an argument before the Supreme Court. He simply stated his personal conviction.
EDIT: I think it's funny to read the "No" answers, since some are like mine, and others are obama-hating.
Please reply back I love arguing with morons.
And when has there ever been a communist Muslim country? I can't think of one. Dictatorship is what you're thinking of, and that has no philosophy behind it.
Even if Obama was a Muslim, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Well, no more of a problem with it that I have with Christianity.
