LOL - uh, yeah.
Edit -
I don't know about it being too "risque." But "The first gay president" leaves one with the impression that he himself is gay. Pretty sure that would come as a shock to his wife. lol

It was kind of a big deal when Barack Obama became the first U.S. president to openly support gay marriage -- enough for the some to joke that he was "coming out of the closet," so to speak. But Newsweek took it a step further on the cover of this week's issue, dubbing Obama "the first gay president," along with an image of the president under a rainbow halo. It's a striking statement, no matter what side of the conversation you're on. But is it going a little too far?
Andrew Sullivan, an openly gay Newsweek journalist, wrote of Obama's announcement, "Like many others, I braced myself for disappointment. And yet when I watched the interview, the tears came flooding down. The moment reminded me of my own wedding day. I had figured it out in my head, but not my heart. And I was utterly unprepared for how psychologically transformative the moment would be. To have the president of the United States affirm my humanity — and the humanity of all gay Americans — was, unexpectedly, a watershed." Still, was Newsweek's cover a little too risque?

Yes

1-Michelle Bachmann saying we were better under slavery than under Obama.
2-Rick Santorum who spent almost all his campaign slamming single mothers-AND NOT the FATHERS who left them, not to talk of balck people who he claims are welfare queens, but offers no solution to end this problem.
3-Michelle Bahmannn (again, no surprise) saying that gay people suffer from sexual dysfunction.
The Dems are no saints-Hillary Clinton has been racist, many Dems are racist, homophobic and sexist, but you can't acquit the Cons either.
But the truth will come out. Obama IS the first gay president... ask the folks in Chicago
gay bath houses Obama used to visit.
His statement as to gay marriage was only designed to placate the gay community, raise dollars for his campaign and throw the issue of gay marriage back to the states to decide, of which 35+ have said no, through their votes.
The gay community is too smart to believe what he said . . . . . or, are they?
There is NO BENDING of the true word of God that is in the BIBLE.
Your etch-N-sketch is stupid and lame - only a child would say such a thing. Kiddy talk
I have read the Bible and I have never found reference of a Catholic Priest in it.
To shocking? How about describing the sex act that Homo's go through, it's where you go to the bathroom, the human bottom was created for a different reason. It is UN-natural, meaning against nature. Whats outrageous is trying to teach elementary students to experiment with their sexuality.
The president is just doing what politicians do, conforming to public opinion and riding that wave
I want homosexuals to know my love and the love of God more than anyone, the true selfless love of God can change anyones life. My prayer is that others that "claim" to love God would also love homosexuals selflessly.
But, by the way. Describing sex acts and teaching the specifics of homosexuality DOES go on in our elementary student's classrooms - Do a google search if you don't believe me
This cover is not so much outrageous as stupid and self-serving. (Jeri, I put this here because your statement is the closest to mine.) Besides, the "ARE YOU MOM ENOUGH" cover last week was WAY more offensive after thinking about it. Thanks.
Morality means different things to different people. For example, you (wrongly) believe that being gay makes you immoral. Most other peoople think being intolerant is one of the most heinous sins
What are they thinking?
I'm an older member of Gen X, not a boomer. But, I still remember when Newsweek & Time were respectable magazines. I'm sure they had their bias. But, they tried not let it show TOO much. The emphasis was on reporting the news, not expressing their personal feelings.
I get the opposite impression when I read them today, which is why I don't do it often. I no longer consider them reliable because the writers seem much more interested in advocacy, not journalism. I don't trust them to tell me what I need to know without trying to make me see things their way.
