A troubling oversight has been found within New York State's sweeping new gun laws.

The ban on having high-capacity magazines, as it's written, would also include law enforcement officers.

Magazines with more than seven rounds will be illegal under the new law when that part takes effect in March.

As the statute is currently written, it does not exempt law enforcement officers.

Nearly every law enforcement agency in the state carries hand guns that have a 15 round capacity.

please stop this insanity, it doesn't matter if you have 1, 10, 15 or 30 rounds, the oue who fires the bullit is the responsible party. guns only injure people when used. they could still be used as a weapon woitout bullits as a hammer to the head and kill someone.

The police don't buy and don't select their own guns. If the law intends to include the police in the ban then they'll just turn in their old weapons for new ones. If the law intends to exempt them then they'll just continue to use the ones issued to them now. In either event it won't be a problem for them. This is a pointless topic.

You can have one half of them arrest the other half and then when they get out they can arrest the first half ! Just keep the cycle going till they hit the "Three Strikes" or they change the law, whichever comes first.

AGAIN, No amount of laws will ever stop the criminal. Look at the gun laws in NYC at this time, and I think it was la night a 15 yr old male was killed over his COAT. the criminal does not need a real reason, he kills becase he wants something you have or to create terror. NYC gun laws are 2nd only to Chicagos and Califorinas. and yeah they really work in all 3 of those places don't they

If anything, Gov. Cuomo will make damned sure that ALL law enforcement agencies in the state have stockpiles of not just semi-automatic, but FULLY automatic rifles, handguns and shotguns, 100 round magazines, and armor piercing bullets to boot! No matter what the cost to the taxpayers! Tyranny, most definately, is getting a head start in the state of New York!
