Many reacted quickly when two-year-old Bridgette Sheriden fell 20 feet into New York's East River waters while boarding a ship; among them was her father David Anderson and an unknown French tourist who helped the father keep a hold on his daughter.
A video of the rescue was captured by a freelance TV producer, who recorded the two men drawing Bridgette out of the 48-degree waters. The New York Daily News said there was a "human chain" of good Samaritan rescuers that aided in Bridgette's rescue. Bridgette's mother says she called an ambulance as soon as Bridgette fell into the water, but help did not arrive until several minutes after Bridgette had been retrieved and wrapped in a blanket.
Did ambulances respond fast enough, or should the docks have a lifeguard on duty?

- katieheart 2010/04/06 19:52:13The East River rescue of Bridgette Sheriden...i agree with both choices cause there are usually only 4 to 6 people on a shift at the ems station and the truck that came could have been a back up truck and had people rushing into uniform and then to the station and then to the site cause no where on here said what ambulance came to the scene and that if it was off duty workers or if the othher ambulances were running like a transfer and were a half hour away or in the middle of taking a dying person to the hospital so we should kno the whole story and like i said i agree with both choicesreply
