I wouldn't call it a step in the right direction, since I'm not sure how well it will actually combat obesity, but I don't see it as the government going too far... they're trying to take some responsibility for our health, which I think is a little misdirected, but I'm not sure what CAN be done to target obesity (since people, clearly, aren't taking the responsibility upon themselves).
Right now, anything seems worth a shot... it's not imposing on any freedom.

I suppose it is a little more of protecting people from their own stupidity. It might cut down on garbage since those cups are very big. I am always amazed at how big the serving is when you ask for small. Americans really do need to learn moderation. The reason the soda is so much is because it is so cheap and they make a great deal of money on it. It would be different if they were serving it in a can of bottle.

Shows how stupid and power hungry liberals are. They want to control every aspect of our lives. What's next? Toilet paper police?

This and along with all the other regulations is why people need to stand up and say enough is enough. Some people think this is a step in the right direction others don't care but this is why should care and why it is wrong.

    1. Government intrusion into individual Liberty
    2. Government intrusion in business to offer products to its customers that want them
    3. Government intrusion into Freedom of Choice
    4. Government intrusion into our right to eat and drink as we please
    5. Government intrusion into our right to buy as we please
    6. The Approval of Assassination of U.S. citizens
    7. Indefinite detention of US Citizens charged with certain crimes
    8. Warrantless searches Patriot Act
    9. Continual monitoring of citizens

These are just the tip of the iceberg, everyday the Government is suppressing our Freedoms and Rights but yet the American people go on believing they are free, what is it going to take, Americans can't you see what is going on.

Are pizzerias next? Bloomberg is an idiot. Perhaps address the financial situation of the state and creating jobs instead of being a "nanny-daddy" worring about Michelle Obama's agendas.

Not only is it an absurd intrusion but it's bound to be ineffective at achieving its stated goal. Just because someone can't buy a drink over a certain size doesn't mean they can't buy more than one… unless the next plan is to start rationing (which, given Bloomberg's track record, is not as unrealistic as it may first seem).

So, NY wants to ban big drinks to curb obesity. Wouldn't be better to ban having a litter of babies to get more tax payer money? Just sayin'.......

I agree that there are definitely more pertinent issues to deal with, but if you let this kind of thing go, they won't stop and eventually you'll/we'll lose everything, ok maybe not EVERYthing, just everything fun.
