New Va. voter-ID law makes it ‘tough to cheat’

JT For Political Reform 2012/05/21 11:23:38

With Gov. Bob McDonnell’s
blessing, Virginia is the latest in a growing number of states that
have adopted voter-identification laws ahead of the 2012 elections -
though he managed to add a fairly significant twist.

The
governor’s signature on a set of companion bills requiring voters to
present one of a number of forms of ID at the polls pleased Republicans,
who introduced the measures they say are meant to combat voter fraud.

“Virginia’s new voter-ID law makes it easy to vote, but tough to cheat,” said Sen. Mark D. Obenshain, Harrisonburg Republican, who co-sponsored the Senate version.

Mr. McDonnell also took the bold step of issuing an executive order directing the State Board of Elections
to send new voter-registration cards to every active voter in the
state, which could help blunt charges that the legislation is aimed at
suppressing the vote of the poor and minorities - groups that
traditionally vote Democratic and could help deliver the state to
President Obama once again.

I'm not sure what sending new registration cards will accomplish if no proof of eligibility is required other than a utility bill or bank statement.

Doesn't are laws already dictate that only eligible citizens are allowed to vote in our elections?
Why would you be opposed to enforcing those laws?

Its stupid for the right to cry about more rules and bigger government then want more . Its like you are saying trust the people only if they are on the right or big business and to hell with the little guy . I'm just saying one way or the other but to want it both ways is practically imposable and I find if stupid that the right cant see what they are asking for unless you guys just don't know what you want

Sorry dude, but big government is being grown by the left, just look at what has been passed by the Ofraud administration. Still living by the Alinsky rules I see.

But still there are those on the right and left who work for government and depend on those paychecks . Ask anyone on the right who works for government if government should shut their job down , I suspect not one of them would agree to being unemployed .
