Science has already established that people with right leaning political ideology are more apt to be prejudiced and that people with low education tend to be prejudiced, but now they’ve also shown that low IQs and conservative beliefs are linked to prejudice.
Cue the screaming poutrage of the Right.

There’s no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.
The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.
“Prejudice is extremely complex and multifaceted, making it critical that any factors contributing to bias are uncovered and understood,” he said.

What we do know right now is that far right ideals attract people who are racist and have low IQs. The whys are up for grabs. We also know that the Republican Party is exploiting this in a dangerous, destructive manner that is bad for our country, and that they are being aided and abetted in this mission by too many religious leaders and corporations (including our mainstream media) for the purpose of enacting policies that benefit the 1%.

+14Give me a break. I'm a conservative member of MENSA who opposes Obama's policies on their lack of merit or effectiveness, merit, or alignment with (or against) our Constitutional Republic. The color of his skin is not the issue. It is his character.
And defund the unions that protect incompetent teachers and fung incompetent left wing candidates.
Time to try something different.
Government school teachers usually get better health insurance at lower cost to them than other workers.
Government school teachers get a better retirement plan, starting at an earlier age, than almost all non government workers.
And, prior to 2009, layoffs were almost unheard of. Firing for misconduct or incompetence is still almost impossible.
Governemnt teachers get damn good pay and benefits.
But student performance, as measured by graduation rates and standard tests are much better in charter and non government run schools.
BTW government school student enrollment increased a little over 8% while number of teachers increased 40% and student performance declined.
We know what doesn't work. Why should we do more of the same?
P.S. find the actual scientific study that shows this and not some liberal propaganda site and than I will consider the scientific facts of such research, until than you are only spreading disinformation and hate, which makes you the very thing this article is complaining about.
Are you conservative?
What most folks don't get is that it takes POWER and monetary resources to be a 'racist'; which means denigrating, exploiting and oppressing an entire group of people based solely upon perceived ethnic superiority.
Most average people (of any color) in this country have no real power.
However, every single one of us is capable of prejudging others, being bigoted, and discriminating against others.
There is no need to complicate it just because you don't like the word.
It is very much an overused word, and this has diluted it's meaning as of recent years, but in most cases those who are called racist typically are not.
