New Media Matters satellite radio show debuts Monday

Media Matters for America, the liberal advocacy organization run by David Brock and funded in part by George Soros, is launching a new talk show on satellite radio. According to Politico’s Patrick Gavin, “The Agenda, Powered by Media Matters” will be hosted by Media Matters’ Executive Vice President Ari Rabin-Havt and will debut with Grover Norquist from Americans for Tax Reform as its first guest.

Bringing on the arch-fiscal-conservative may be a signal that Media Matters wants to moderate its liberal tone for national consumption, but you’ll have to listen to find out. Media Matters does not respond to requests for comment from The Daily Caller, including one sent for this report.

Beginning Monday, the show will air weekdays from 9pm to midnight, Eastern time, on SiriusXM Radio’s SiriusXM Left channel. The show will be broadcast live, allowing listeners to call in with questions and responses. The tax-exempt Media Matters bills itself as a watchdog group and devotes considerable time and resources to demonizing conservative media figures. Rabin-Havt, who wrote a book attacking Fox News’ Roger Ailes, previously worked for Sen. Harry Reid, Vice President Al Gore, and the Democratic National Committee.

This is a second attempt for Media Matters at producing a show on SiriusXM. In late 2011, “Media Matters Radio” was given a six week trial, airing on Saturdays. That show, according to The New York Times, aimed to “analyze a ‘cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio and Internet media outlets’” along with encouraging “listeners to ‘take action’ against misinformation.”
