Why would they wait. I am sure Netanyahu KNOWS more about Obama's Muslim affiliation than we THINK we do. With that in mind I am sure he is thinking about the consequences that should follow in the chance that BHO is re-elected.

Depends who's in charge. If Obama's re-elected, then he will probably cut some money from Israels' annual taxpayer foreign aid allowance. (3 billion last year)
If Romney's in, then he'll be just fine.

Not sure how to answer this. One news report but no, I don't think Oblahblah can influence any other world leader. He set the tone that our voice is no more important nor influential than any other country so why would anyone put any weight on what he says?

Israel would rather wait until after Obama leaves office since anyone would support Israel more than Obama has. Unfortunately, Israel doesn't have the luxury of picking when it attacks. It has to attack before Iran gets too far in its nuclear program.

Israel cannot afford a war in the Middle East because it has nothing to win. If Israel attacks Iran, it is likely to lead to such a war. Israel may be able to defeat its neighbors but what can it win? More land populated by Muslims? Will more land give Israel greater or less security? If Israel cannot defeat its neighbors, what can it lose?

Any rational analysis recognizes the risk of war outweigh any potential benefits....unless Netanyahu believes the US will/can not prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and believes a surgical strike on Iran's nuclear facilities will eliminate the possibility Iran gets the bomb.

We all want security and safety. ... the question is how to achieve it. ... If you destroy or take someone's family farm, kill their parents or children, they will hate you as long as they live. It is probably they will also try to get even. This is what you do when you go to war. If a nation wants safety and security, it must seek to turn its enemies into friends.

Nobody gets points for trying. Either Israel will make peace with its neighbors or Israel will cease to exist. It is just a matter of time.

Sometime God gives us difficult challenges to help us grow and mature. For Israel that challenge is very specific. They must recognize the Tanakh for what is; a campaign commercial written 2500 years ago justifying the rule by Babylonian Administrators over the Persian Province of Judah.

Both sides need to want peace before it can happen. There is no benefit for Israel to want to go to war but there is plenty of benefit for the other side.

    2500 years ago...seriously? woah.

There are a large number of Israelis who believe they are entitled to a homeland in Palestine because of a 2500 year old book. As they read this book, it says that "God intended the Jews to live in Palestine" Many American Christians read this book the same way. IMO it is the sense of entitlement emerging from this book which has led to many of the difficulties between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

It is now their home. And it has been. Want them to leave? Why should they? Why not just have tolerance and peace?

So a bunch of Europeans move to Palestine, steal land from the indigenous people and claim it as a homeland. Is it just me or does this sound like colonialism to you as well?

Europeans were relatively successful at colonizing thinly populated places like the Americas and Australia. Perhaps you recollect how these "colonies" worked out in places with larger indigenous populations like Africa, India, and China? So will the colonization of Palestine meet with success like North America? the mixed results of South America? or the failures of Africa?

As for tolerance and peace, that is not mine to give. I don't live and have no intention of living in Palestine. But I do know if you had stolen the farm/orchard on which my grandfather was raised, we would not be friends.

Its over. Its done. whether you nor i agree with it or not, this is now and has been Israel's homeland. They are there. Make peace with it.
Whites colonized America. Spanish colonized South America. We live peacefully. Talk about sour grapes!
The land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Here their spiritual, religious and
national identity was formed. Here they achieved independence and created a culture of national and
universal significance. Here they wrote and gave the Bible to the world.

Impelled by this historic association, Jews strove throughout the centuries to go back to the land
of their fathers and regain their statehood. In recent decades they returned in masses. They reclaimed
the wilderness, revived their language, built cities and villages and established a vigorous and
ever-growing community with its own economic and cultural life. They sought peace yet were ever
prepared to defend themselves. This right was acknowledged by the Balfour Declaration of November 2, 1917, and re-affirmed
by the Mandate of the League of Nations, which gave explicit international recognition to the historic
connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and their right to reconstitute their National Home.

Everything you said could have also been said about the "Kingdom of Jerusalem" a previous European attempt to colonize the "holy lands". It lasted almost a 100 years. Or the Hasmonean Kingdom which was an attempt to re-establish the Biblical Kingdom of Judah. It also remained independent for about 100 years.

There are numerous parallels between these historic nations and modern Israel which leads me to suspect the clock is ticking. Without dramatic reform, modern Israel is unlikely to celebrate its Centennial.

As for the connection of the Jewish people with Palestine....that connection is through the Tanakh, aka, the Jewish Bible; assembled and written by the "Men of the Great Assembly". Who were these "Men of the Great Assembly"? They were mid-level Babylonian Administrators sent to Judah by Persia to administer the Persian Province of Judah. The Babylonian training explains why they assembled a book that says God intended for them and their children to rule Judah. The Persian influence explains why this book teaches a variation of Zorastrianism.

I believe Netanyahu is just bluffing-- Strategically political in efforts to manipulate the US. The Israeli government wants American Jewry and Jewish political donors in the US to think that Israel is on the verge of an attack. Forcing Obama's hand into supporting Israel for fear of losing pro-Israeli votes to Romney. With an election approaching, no candidate (or incumbent) wants to be seen as not being sufficiently pro-Israel.

Israel cannot allow Iran the luxury of a first strike and if Obama wins the election he will be even less inclined to defend the Jewish state.

I see no other viable option for Israel.
