I find the whole thing repulsive. I understand it when a mothers life is in danger and it is the only choice. That is very rare.

There is no reasoning with the "abortion is murder" crowd. No matter how much good PP does they will fixate on the A= M equation to the detriment of many real women whose opinions differ from theirs.

PPH offers a LOT of valuable and important family planning info and services to women who couldn't get it otherwise.

But... Abortion on Demand undermines their value. They could choose to manage differently, and I think they should.

Accomplishing that is the ONLY acceptable reason imo for ANY MALE lawmaker to open his big fat mouth on the subject. The Hyde Amendment was meant to protect taxpayers. If it's not working, make it work. Hold PPH accountable. Make them open their books or prove somehow that no public funds go to abortions -- and that includes state payments to docs under Medicaid, Public Assistance, etc.

If women were at least told the whole truth about Abortion, they would never have it. The deaths, suicides, infertility, sterilization that happens is a crime in and of itself. It's not just murder of a child--that is bad enough. Two human beings lose, and just one of them is a baby.

That's BS, Jericho. I was just talking to a friend today who has 3 kids -- 12, 10, and 5; she was 42 when he born. She and her husband had talked about it and had agreed that if tests showed major issues she would terminate.

What does that have to do with what I said? That doesn't negate the consequences of terminating, and having 3 kids before she terminates doesn't mean she will be able to have any more, nor that her body and mind won't be seriously affected by that decision. By going by a doctor's prognosis that there may be serious problems, I would have not been here, and I am a perfectly healthy and have been since the day I was born. I am not the only example of this. Every one should have a chance at life, no matter what the prognosis. I have a family that has thanked God they had a child with a defective heart for a month than to have terminated it ahead of time.

See people think this is a financial decision, an easy fix, or an end to suffering, but more often than not, these parents and kids are not given all the facts and side effects of abortion before they choose to do so, and those that have to vehemently defend this barbarous act favor affluence to life a majority of the time or they have had an abortion themselves, and need to defend it or it would damage their psyche futher to not continue to justify it.

Eugenics is NOT what PPH is about. Margaret Sanger may have turned from her early goals, but PPH didn't. I'm sorry you let the propaganda in the other direction turn you.

I don't support abortion either, Red -- but I do support choice. What works for me doesn't have to work for others. I think PPH needs to separate its functions because it surely looks as though the public money it gets violates the spirit of the Hyde Amendment, if not the letter. I don't think human life is an area where hair-splitting or legal gymnastics should be thriving.

I agree you shouldn't have to pay for them if you don't want to. That's why I think PPH needs to separate its functions so that any public funding can clearly go to its other services. If this means they perform fewer abortions and have a surplus on the planning side, so be it. No mingling.

For an unmarried woman on welfare with a child already, maybe. I'd listen to arguments pro/con anyway.

PP provides prenatal and other medical care to reproductive age girls and women that many of them otherwise would not be able to receive ... abortion is only a small part of the services it provides ... people who would kill PP would indirectly cause many hundreds of thousands of unwanted pregnancies, would compromise the prenatal care of many hundreds of thousands of expectant mothers, and would cause many births with many complications ... the "crusade" against PP is a misinformed, one-dimensional agenda that elevates a sick attitude toward human sexuality over the reality of woman's medical health needs. IMHO. the day when the anti-PP crusaders exert one-fourth the energy towards sex education and contraceptive services for young women is the day when I reconsider my loathing for the anti-PP groups. i expect that my own children will be grandparents before the so-called christian right and the so-called conservative right gets a clue.
