Nature fights back – bugs devour GM Monsanto corn with a vengeance

angry mother nature

Corn genetically engineered by Monsanto to kill western corn rootworm
is reportedly being devoured by those pests with a vengeance. Thanks to
heavy reliance on the genetically modified (GM) crops, the tiny
rootworm pest has overtaken fields, outsmarting the genetic engineering
that was supposed to keep it away.

what farmers? They've all had their property taken away when their seed were inadvertently pollinated with Monsanto seeds and were in essence sued for using Monsanto products without giving royalties.

Such as that should be thrown out of court and Monsanto should have to pay all costs. That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard and is the best excuse for limiting terms for unelected judges and for those serving in govt. agencies.

Yes and nature has a way of overcoming a variety of man's developments. Just like antibacterial soap, that was so popular at first, they're now recommending against using it, because germs are becoming stronger because of it. Super-germ-infected-bugs are taking over!

Of course. Just like the GMO canola and soybeans that Monsanto said would not cross with non-GMO crops. Monsanto sued a canola farmer in Canada and forced him into bankruptcy after his crop was contaminated with their GMO seeds from nearby fields.
So-called RoundUp-ready soybean fields now have massive problems with weeds that have become resistant to Round-Up, etc.

I am afraid that GM crops and other plants are not a good solution. In Europe, there are many resistances against their cultures. Also consumers refrain from buying products basing on or containing GM food.

Thank you, there are indeed scientific investigations here in Europe which are causing serious doubts and even actions, as bio and fair trade products are more and more demanded, and it appeared that GM cultures need as many pesticides as normal cultures. May I ask you a question? I only know about the progresses of our great European consumer lobbies and suppose that yours are fighting intensely for healthier and more ecological products. Do they get much support throughout the USA? Thank you for your information.

Thank you for your information. Here in Europe, their influence is important in some countries, and consumers become increasingly aware and active, due to popular TV emissions. Still there is a lot to do.

And so far they allowed to choose. We don't even know which is which.Which is how they want it.

That is really problematic - I suppose that the big enterprises or corporations are in command. In our country, GMO's are banned, the neighbours are also banning them or imposing strict regulations on shares and on the information about food ingredients. There have been tests, and slight traces were found in imported food said to be GMO free. It has been proved that sound cultures were contaminated by GMO plants.
I would not call Americans or other nationalities suckers - every country has good, cultivated, common and less intelligent or rather less informed people ... There is still much partiality in information, and there are so many assumptions.

I would say there are far too many Americans that do not really understand this and how it is happening ,Or the repercussions from it.Too many Americans turn out the lights and pull down the shades,in other words ,they happily look the other way where government control of our food is involved.
That is evident from reading a lot of the letters posted right here.

Indeed. According to a series of comments, many trust blindly or accuse parties, groups, politicians, celebrities, etc. and cannot be rational or are somewhat naive. And I am afraid that this happens in many parts of the world with other nationalities.
Sometimes, I have the impression that fashion or scandals are more important than true culture.

That is how it is here.People want to leave politics to the politicians and as anyone who is looking can tell that it is coming back to bite us.A government will do anything they think they can get away with and make enough money on.
