President Obama has derogatory things about America. I'm proud to be an American and to live in "the land of the free and the home of the brave." Does the President know America is the most generous nation of all-time on the face of the earth? My ancestors left their old countries for America, in search of a better life, and they got it. Some of those old countries exercised communist oppression, religious persecution, and were plagued with poverty, by my ancestors came to America's open arms and got a wonderful new start. I've been to the Statue of Liberty, and I've walked through Ellis Island, the very first place some of my ancestors walked through when they first set foot on American soil.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free."

How dare the President say 'America has acted arrogantly.' Rave if you agree.

This is the exact kind of thing that prompted the President to say that. "America has acted arrogantly". There are plenty of times throughout this nation's history when it has acted arrogantly, forcefully, and only for its own interest. Americans should not ignore these instances and blindly believe in a good, truly "exceptional" America. It's good for a nation to show some humility. It's good for a nation to apologize for its mistakes. I'm glad that the President had the guts to say that.
