Who cares? Wouldn't it be a step to integration if a Muslim girl played with dolls with other girls?

What loony brought their alarmism to the toy store? Is there only one culture suitable for marketing? Besides, I don't believe this to be true anyway, but so what if it is? They can still disrobe the doll to find out that underneath it all, we're pretty much the same.

Funny, I left a post last time I was here that is gone. I wonder how that happened. Did someone, in power, not like my answers?

Thomas Jefferson and Lincoln are rolling in their graves!!! Why would they and if they did, who cares. Ya'll know Abe Lincoln, the first Republican was a real bleeding heart Liberal. Jefferson bred Slaves for his own working stock. I don't think a whole lot of good Social good from Jefferson. Should anyone else?

I had a God-Father, My Uncle, good guy except he was a real racist. I remember being with him when he saw a black baby-doll for sale at Sears. He was flabbergast. I recall him saying something like, "what is this country coming to, selling these dolls in a normal store." I later saw a little black girl on the subway with her Mom & Dad playing with a white baby-doll. All I could think of, even as a young boy, "How wrong is it that a little girl can't have a doll baby that she can relate to, that looks like her."

I think a Burka is a disgusting costume, designed to keep really pretty Arabian and Persian, and any Muslim women from being available, and her man don't have to work as hard to hold on to her. But, if that is what they are willing to do for their funny religion, well that is their choice, and their daughters ought to have a ...

I don't understand how that should bother anyone. It is like so many things that Christians try to ban, same-sex marriage, abortion, and other religions. If you don't like Lesbians, and you are a women, don't marry a women. If you don't want an abortion, think it is wrong, don't get an abortion, if you don't want your daughter to have a Muslim doll, don't get her a Muslim doll. A good Christian or a Jew can get your friends to stone her if she comes home with one.

Don't we have enough crap to consider that is really important???? doll muslim doll christian jew friends stone home crap important

I think it is perfectly fine to sell dolls that cannot be seen through the dolls' clothing if there are customers who want to buy that kind of doll. And it is fine to sell bikini clad dolls if there are customers who want to buy that kind of doll. And it is fine to sell naked life-size inflatable dolls if there are customers who want to buy that kind of doll.

That's what freedom is supposed to be all about. Buy what you want to buy, do what you want to do, so long as you are not interfering with another person's rights to do likewise.

Mattel is not making and selling Barbie in a burkha. An Italian designer, in honor of Barbie's 50th birthday, created 50 garments for Barbie to be auctioned off at Sotheby's in order to raise money for Save the Children Foundation. Don't get your panties all in a bunch over it! This reminds me of when, GASP!, they made black Barbie!

Here is a photo of the designer and the other dolls in the apparel she designed.

No, you are wrong. Do your research. I'm sure Fox "News" told you that Mattel was selling burkha Barbie, but CNN certainly did not, nor did any other news organization. Because they are not. These dolls (50 total) are ONLY for an auction at Sotheby's. Why can't you cons do some research instead of lapping up the lies that continuously spring forth from Fox fake "news?"

well i don´t really care about them making culturally diverse products, but i gotta wonder what kind of person would actually buy this. what family that is against women showing their skin at all would even contribute to a company that historically promotes showing as much skin and as much sexualization as possible?

Burka represents the suppression of women! Why not just a normal Mid-Eastern Barbie?

What is a NORMAL Mid-Eastern? Is she dressed in 21st Century "Western" dress, or is the Burka, or Veils normal? Particularly in Iran, I've seen some beautiful, attractive girls, dressed in jeans with a Veil, and button up blouse, but heavily made up. In Lebanon, I've seen some pretty, actually, very attractive, very sexy girls, dressed like on the streets of Paris. I am serious. What is NORMAL? Are we over concerned about the extremest, fundamentalist, zealots?

You feel an underlying threat from a doll in a burka? Sad.But no threat when your 3-year old granddaughter is already worried if her boobies will get as big as Barbie's.
