Murder is murder right?. Some states don't agree in cases such as child abuse resulting in death. Do you think many states are too lenient when it comes to this?

The link up there leads to a story where a 6 month old girl was brutally beaten and raped. She died as a result. The maximum the killers could serve at the time was 18 years in prison. With the help of lawmakers who were apalled by this case they pushed to increase the maximum.

I think the country is too lenient for the most part. 18 years is like a slap on the wrist.
