I've been a Red Sox fan about 50 years - nearly all my life. As far back as I can remember. I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Pesky on a couple of occasions and it was a blessing and an honor. He was a gentleman, an ambassador, a teacher, a coach, a mentor, a father figure to some players, and just an overall mensch. The Red Sox are having an abysmal season and this feels like the final hammer of the final spike in the coffin. My chest hearts so much and it hurts to breathe. The emotional pain is so deep... I'll try to make the trip to Fenway Park when the team comes home. Fans and players, alike, loved him...
Yep. He played with Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio (Joe's brother). He was an incredible man and so loved. I met him a couple of times... heartbroken.
