I didn't make this up. This is something that has statistical background and has credibility from academia. It is in testbooks and sociology books. Slaves were used (unfortunately) by their masters and this is how it started. Most American Negroes have lighter skin than those in Africa because they have white blood. This is not racist, nor ignorant but factual. There is nothing wrong with this either except how it got that way if these people were "used" against their will.

I am originally from Africa and I can tell you that there are A LOT of light skin, Caramel skin, Dark skin people. Just because you see a lot of movie dealing with Africa and the actors happen to be really dark does not mean that that is how many/most of Africa is like. The textbook can say whatever it'd like but it does not beat out facts.

Obama's Kenyan father was only 12 1/2% black so that gives Obama 6 1/4% of black. That is because his father's side are of Kenyan ARAB stock! That is why he currently supports the Kenyan muslim radical tied to burning a church of Kenyan Christians with 200 men,women & children murdered! That is also why he's been supporting muslim brotherhood throughout the world.

I guess....if you want to be technically correct. His color stopped mattering (positive or negative) to almost everyone - ages ago when his incompetence became apparent.

From my observations, it seems that blacks have a tendency to completely ignore the other races in a person's bloodline if they have African physical traits....especially if they are talented and important. Look what they did to Tiger Woods. It really ticked off many blacks that he insisted on being called multiracial and refused to ignore his mother's (Asian / Indian/ White) contribution to his DNA. They expected him to accept being called black ....period. I guess this is to be expected when you consider the history involved (the "one-drop rule" and all).

So I find it curiously honest that Freeman would mention this fact. Would he have done so if Obama hadn't turned out to be such an embarrassment?

if i remember right the first black potus was a free black man that served a one year term before Washington.

Why are conservatives so obsessed with irrelevant categorizations? If a man does a good job as President, as President Obama has, who cares if he's white, black, green or plaid? If a man does a crappy job and causes untold suffering to millions, as George W. Bush did, the fact that he's white doesn't condemn all white people. It is this same narrow mindedness that leads conservatives to believe that ALL Muslims are terrorists, that ALL food stamp receipients are black, that ALL Hispanics are in this country illegally, that ALL homosexuals are pedophiles, and so on. People are PEOPLE; they are not labels.

Obviously because every President we've had prior to the current one has been white.

No, of course not. Why would ANY African American be a conservative??? I was commenting more on the reactions to his statements than to his statements themselves. I've seen posts from conservatives to the effect of "black people shouldn't vote for Obama just because he's black since he's not really black anyway." When they start from the asinine presupposition that black people vote for President Obama because he's black and for no other reason, I guess they conclude that if they can convince people that he's not really black it will cost him votes. And then I remember that these are the same sorts of folks that invented the One Drop Rule LOL.

I do agree. It is convenient however to ignore the white half, so that racists can focus on skin color rather than issues. They will claim that people who dislike him dislike him because he is black. If you dare to point out that you dislike his politics and you happen to be white, you are a racist. They forget about his white half, in order to increase his hype. "The first black President" is so much more worthy of media adoration, than just another democrat who fooled people into voting for him.

He's not half black. He's half Kenyan and half American. His ancestors didn't come over here on a boat in chains. Once upon a time in the 1960s a Kenyan guy knocked up some white girl from kansas he met in a marxist school and out popped Obama.

I wonder if cons would have felt differently about Obama had he called himself bi-racial instead of African-American. He should embrace all of his ancestors, not just half. I love him no matter what he considers himself, but who knows?
