More school: Obama would curtail summer vacation

The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way.
Obama says because our kids aren't needed to work in the fields anymore , which he says is why they have a summer break , that they need to spend more hours at school to keep up with others students across the globe...
In other words according to Obama our children need more time in school because other Nations have more time in school.
US...1,146 hours per year
Singapore... 903 hours per year
Taiwan... 1,050 hours per year
Japan...1,005 hours per year
Hong Kong...1,013 hours per year
Although other Nations do have more school days....190-201 per calendar year verses America's 180 days... America has more hours..
Regardless, there is a strong case for adding time to the school day.
Researcher Tom Loveless of the Brookings Institution looked at math scores in countries that added math instruction time. Scores rose significantly, especially in countries that added minutes to the day, rather than days to the year.
Some schools in the US already have longer hours ....early results indicate that kids in some schools do better on state tests than do kids at regular public schools
But the question is should Obama be allowed to make the changes, or should that be up to our Local districts ..

Maybe, the focus needs to be on better parenting. I am sick of the parents wanting teachers to handle their responsibilities for them, ie;
teaching values
teaching morals
babysitting.
What is the parent responsibility in their child's education outside of the school?
My children have a better learning capability, and sense of responsibility with their studies because we do learning activities outside of the school.
Apparently Obama's parents were too busy with their own agendas/lives to have time for him. Sad for him, but he needs to stop projecting his parent's failures on normal American families. The majority do not have a sad tale of parental failure like him.
