Deere & Co. to spend about $100M on India plants

Deere & Co. said Wednesday that it will spend about $100 million to build a new factory in India and expand an existing tractor plant in an effort to keep up with anticipated demand there.

John Deere India has been the largest exporter of agricultural machinery from India for the past 5 years. Its tractors made in India are now sold in 70 countries.

The world's biggest maker of agricultural equipment said the new factory, whose location has yet to be determined, will make small agricultural tractors that will be sold in India and for export to other countries. The existing factory is located in Pune.

Deere & Co. has continued to build up its presence in India, breaking ground on a new grain harvesting equipment factory in September and opening a new water plant in early 2010. The company based in Moline, Ill. also has a technology and engineering center in Pune and is joint venture partners with Ashok-Leyland to build construction machinery.

India is not the only place that Deere & Co. is investing overseas. Last month the company announced that it would invest $50 million in a new manufacturing plant in China to make construction equipment.

making the environment hostile for illegals has to include more punitive fines on business that hire illegals.
Jobs will continue to flow overseas as long as over regulation and taxes exist.

looking at everything as it is, i can't understand why any sane person would want to start a business.

Oh, that's nice!! Globalization, helping the world sink America. And the sad thing is, American CEOs making millions are at the head of the line!

The more companies that leave, the sooner America will see the folly of their punitive actions toward business. Not until then will we correct our mistakes.

whey to NAFTA and government regulations driving more businesses out of the country. Only the repeal of NAFTA and limited government can bring businesses back to this country. with more businesses and less government will bring jobs.

When the government creates an environment that is anathema to business it should come as no surprise that the businesses would find someplace else to set up shop. Our current government is so anti big business it is no wonder that they are leaving.

Jobs are created by making things or providing a service here. They go elsewhere when it can be preformed for less.

The cost to do something here has several components:
    1. What you take home
    2. What you and your employer have to pay the state, local and federal agencies. (taxes)
    3. What it costs your employer to follow the regulations. (SDI, Workman’s comp, OSHA, Health Care, etc.)
    4. Cost of capital
    5. Cost of energy, resources and supplies.
    6. Allowing a training system for employees in manufacturing like the apprentice system.
    7. Stability
If Government laws raise any of those costs, you lose.
If Government laws lower any of those costs you win.

    It is that simple.

    1. You take home, as a percentage, less than they do in India.
    2. The Companies pay more than they do in India
    3. They are regulated less in India, but still adhere to most environmental issues, because it is the right thing to do, and their stockholders want to be responsible.
    4. With the dollar declining they want to invest somewhere their investment will APPRECIATE.
    5. Since that area is growing and our Government is strangling us, they want to produce closer to the end buyer.
    6. Unions wan't to keep the work force SMALL, so the can keep wages UP!
    7. Do I need to comment on this?

    Any questions? Class dismissed.

It's all about money, don't surprise me at all. The days of employees thinking they have a career is over, also they don't have to adhere to the strict enviromental laws like they have here in the states and other factors that lure them overseas.

They have no choice. They are taxed and regulated to death. Plus they don't have to supply this rediculous health care. They are in business to make money, not to promote the general welfare.
