Moammar Gaddafi, the former dictatorial leader of Libya, has been killed, the BBC reports. Though it's unsure where the attack happened, one report says that Gaddafi was killed in his hometown of Sirte while another says that Gaddafi's body is in Misrata, Libya.

Reports are also circulating that two of Gaddafi's sons, Mutassim and Saif al-Islam, along with Gaddafi's chief of intelligence, Abdullah al-Senussi, have also been killed. The Al Jazeera Arabic network has also released a gruesome video that shows what appears to be a lifeless Gaddafi with a wound on top of his head.

Moammar Gaddafi, who was 69, was in power for 42 years in Libya until he was ousted by the people earlier this year and circumstantially went into hiding. The Senate's minority leader, Mitch McConnell, says that Gaddafi's death "clears the way for the Transitional National Council in Libya to begin to put together a representative government."

President Barack Obama is scheduled to make an announcement Thursday at 2p.m. ET -- and said that Gaddafi's death "marks the end of a long and painful chapter for the people of Libya." He also added: "Today we can definitively say that the Gadhafi regime has come to an end."

This not rocket science. Dictator or not Gaddafi was a known quantity. Now we are stuck with a dangerous well armed quantity. To say otherwise is foolishness.

This is the condemnation that we should have learned from with Saddam Houssain. He knew his people, and kept the rebellious forces at bay. We removed the lock from Pandora's Box, and now Libya must deal with our hubris. How ridiculously stupid we must seem to the rest of the world. I love America. Libya's Dictator had to be eliminated because, as was Iraq's Dictator, he believed himself above the law, and above humanity. What is left? We forget that even Dictators may well have an awareness we do not have, and that their subjects do not automatically desire democracy, especially in Africa.

Besides being a blatant lie, your post makes no sense, and no contribution to this conversation. Your projection aside, I am of the conviction that you have never looked the sitting President of the United States, and specifically asked his beliefs on either of these issues. Some have, and can safely report with certainty that you are 200% (100% for each statement) wrong. Until you do, I'd suggest veering away from mindless drivel you might be fed via whoever you are listening to.

One I don't think Africa is the only place where democracy struggles to grow. I believe any culture that has a dictatorial,Theocrtic, or long term communism. Does not seek democracy because it is alien to them.

There will be peace in Libya like there is peace in a graveyard. "my way or the highway" It will be on the terms of the Muslim Brotherhood. No wonder Obama wins "peace prizes." He always sides with the "religion of peace." He is currently trying to bring "peace" to Uganda by sending 100 troops to protect that Islamic regime from Christians. 100 is not many, but that's how our debacle in Vietnam got started, by a few advisers.

We have, as a national body, yet to understand that what we are presenting to the world these days is really not something any rational deliberative body would choose. It's truly that simple. These are not the "Old Days", yet these ARE the old days our children will remember, and hate us for.

What is it about you progressive/lefties that don't care about the spread of evil?
Do you not believe Sharia is evil, or do you not care that islamic sharia kills Christians and Jews? Coptic Christians are being killed in Egypt by the sharia enforcers, RIGHT NOW but, since it has become fashionable for you lefties to hate Christians, I don't suppose you care.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has made no secret of his intentions to dominate the middle east, establishing sharia law, while advancing his nuclear programs, and all you liberals can say is "butt out"??
I do agree with you to a point, that it's not the U.S.'s business how other countries establish themselves, however, when it involves Sharia law, backed by a nuclear arms program...it becomes our business.
Your mentality would have let Hitler succeed.

Islamic Sharia law is a Theo-Political philosophy where Church and State are one and the same, with zero tolerance of Christianity or Judaism.
Their goal, since 640 A.D. is the enslavement or death of all infidels, and in recent decades have attained more power than ever before.
The libs are more than happy to allow them unchecked power not only in the mid-east, but here in America as well. Islamaphobic they call it....and if it were 1942 they would be calling us Naziphobic while embracing Hitlers 3rd Reich.
In more ways than one, the left is like a flesh eating cancer in America, and the world.

No liberal talks about war as a solution to the world problems.Conservative minds and right wing extremists feel like they must destroy the rest of the world in order for them to preserve their place in history, this are the very sick minds that have turn this once admirable nation into the hated country it is today. The way to a peaceful world is not going to come thru "hate mongering" or merciless armed conflicts but by mutual understanding. The new legion of "bigots" and "hate mongers" have no place in society and will not prevail.

Do you know any history at all , the only "Crusades' known to the world are those of Christians killing Muslims. When you talk about world domination you must consider which is the nation with troops and military bases all over the world and which nation is either attacking or invading foreign soil.Is a fact that a country with intent to conquer the world will put a military machine in place and attack or invades other, I do not see Iran invading anyone or dropping bombs left and right. Please analyze the situation before before you write about it.Your rhetoric has nothing to do with current world affairs.By the way most modern world military attacks or wars have been started by christian nations.

Is it the Christians blowing up market places and police buildings in Iraq? Is it the Christians blowing up subways in London? Is it the Christians blowing up night clubs in Singapore? Is it Christians flying jets into skyscrapers? Is it the Christians beheading people on the web? Do Christians stone young women to death for not "obeying"? Do Christian men rape young women as a part of daily life?
Your defending these heathens, and arguing that Christianity is worse, is heinous.
It used to be that Americans were Americans and loved the nation, now days we have filth such as you, defending radical terrorists and crucifying America and Christianity. I would bet you file your attitude/beliefs under the guise of "progress'?

Murrah Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. McVeigh was a registered Republican when he lived in Buffalo, New York in the 1980s, and had a membership in the National Rifle Association while in the military.
McVeigh was raised Roman Catholic. During his childhood, he and his father attended Mass regularly
Before his execution, McVeigh took the Catholic sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
