No matter what the Romney campaign comes up with, it is apparent that the American public is not going to be distracted from the growing questions about Mitt Romney's financial past. The party that chose Sarah Palin tried to criticize another Vice President, and their phony "outrage" about a nonexistent racial comment blew up in their faces. The party whose budget plans include destroying Medicare as we know it tried to claim that they would save it, and tried to claim that the $716 billion in spending that the Health Care Reform Act SAVES was really a "theft", even though those same savings are in their own budget, and that blew up in their faces. It's pretty clear that the floundering Romney campaign is going to have to take its chances by revealing Mitt Romney's tax returns, or they're just going to sit on the bottom of the ocean until election day.

Mitt Romney Tells You That You Don't Want to See His Tax Returns

In a desperate attempt to change the subject, the Romney campaign is now claiming that you don't care about his tax returns.
Transcript from CNN:
ACOSTA: And Eric, very quickly, Mitt Romney came out and volunteered earlier this week that he hadn't paid less than 13 percent as an effective tax rate in his taxes. Why won't Mitt Romney prove it and just put his tax returns out there?
FEHRNSTROM: Well, I'll tell you, Mitt Romney put out — he has said that he will put out two years worth of tax returns. He's put out his full 2010 return, hundreds of pages of tax return information that is on his website. He'll put out his 2011 returns once it is complete and filed. He has had financial disclosures going back to 2002 when he was governor of Massachusetts, and those, too, can be found on Mitt Romney's website.
Look, taxes are not an issue. It is not what the American people are talking about. Just last month, we learned in July that 44 states saw their unemployment rates go up, and what is Obama's answer to that? Higher taxes and more spending. If you are unemployed in America, you must feel like a drowning person who has just been thrown an anchor.
Mr. Etch-A-Sketch was speaking for Mitt Romney, and expressing the candidate's delusional belief that people really don't care about his tax returns. Fehrnstrom has worked for Romney for a long time. He is close to the candidate. If he says that the American people don't care about the tax returns, that is exactly how Mitt Romney feels.
Mitt Romney is going to ignore all of the polling that shows vast majorities of Americans want to see his tax returns. The Romney campaign views this as a distraction issue, but the tax returns are all about Mitt Romney's character.
The campaign's latest destined to fail gambit on the question of the tax returns is to try to tell the American people what they think. Romney still has the voter candidate relationship all wrong. The candidate does not get to make demands of voters. The candidate doesn't not get to ignore what the voters want. The candidate who doesn't understand that they are asking the voters for support is destined to lose.
It is like the Romney camp trying to pull some Jedi mind trick. The Romney campaign fancies themselves some sort of political Obi-Wan Kenobi who thinks that they can wave their hands and make voters believe that they don't want to see Romney's tax returns.
Once again, another Romney surrogate interview was derailed by the tax returns question. The American people do want to see Mitt Romney's tax returns. Every time they answer the question without releasing more returns is a win for the Democrats and Barack Obama.

Idiot repubs 2012/08/20 12:06:27

Mitt Romney ran for governor of Massachusetts by claiming he was living in his son's basement. Building permits now reveal that his sons basement was unfinished at the time. We must see what he claimed as his primary residence on his tax returns.
Mitt admits to having had Swiss Bank accounts but no longer has them. The prime reason for having such an account is to avoid paying tax in the US, which is a felony. In 2009, A Tax Amnesty program for these types of accounts was available for people like Mitt. All one had to do was admit to the account (felony) and would then be granted Amnesty from prosecution if they voluntarily disclosed the account and paid the US tax on them. Mitt no longer has his Swiss accounts because there is no reason to. He obviously must have applied for the Amnesty.
Last week Ann Romney said no tax returns would be released because they would provide "ammunition against them" thereby admitting there are indeed items contained in the Romneys tax returns that would disqualify or threaten the success of Mitt's election.
Now lets see those Tax Returns, Willard.
Might I venture to say that it is because they seldom are required to file a tax return?
Because if one knows the slightest about tax returns, you’ll know that nothing you are suggesting will be uncovered.
It contains a mailing address so you will never find out where a principle residence is located.
It does not contain bank account information or amounts so you will never find out how many, balances they contain, or where they are located.
The only thing you will discover is the amount of tax, and by deduction, the percentage he paid which he’s already disclosed and has been verified. Despite your assumption that, “obvious he paid little or no tax” No, it’s not a given.
Further, you state you don’t care about how much tax he’s paid.
And how can one supporting Obama be so focused on Romney’s taxes when nearly everything about Obamas past, with the exception of his tax returns, has been a secret? And to date, he still refuses to disclose.
Especially given the deplorable condition the economy is in with most of that credit resting on Obamas shoulders.
Rather hypocritical wouldn’t you say?
Wouldn’t have expected anything other than an attempted insult.
And a lame one at that.
You know damn well Romney participated.
Brad Malt of the law firm Ropes & Gray: "By the way, I did close this account in early 2010. It no longer exists."
Reporters on the call offered two follow-up questions about the Swiss bank account. One asked, "Why was that Swiss bank account closed in 2010?"
Malt responded, "I previously said that I regularly review Gov. Romney's investments and just in connection with one of my periodic reviews, I decided that this account wasn't serving any particular purpose. It might or might not be consistent with Gov. Romney's political views. You know, again, taxes were all fully paid, etc., but it just wasn't worth it, and I closed the account."
Just as your reference states, “We should note that there’s no indication that Romney did anything improper by having some of his assets in a Swiss bank account -- assets, we’ll reiterate, that were placed in the account by Malt, not by Romney.”
Further, “Malt responded… I decided that this account wasn't serving any particular purpose. It might or might not be consistent with Gov. Romney's political views. You know, again, taxes were all fully paid, etc., but it just wasn't worth it, and I closed the account"
In 2010 making it a year too late for participation in any amnesty program.
So your claim that Romney’s Participation in the 2009 Swiss-Bank Tax Amnesty Program is false and therefor, such is your claim that he committed a felony.
Thereby making your entire allegation rather lame.
It amazes me that you don’t even consider the source you are using for a reference in an attempt to prove you point. The very same source contradicts your allegation yet, you choose to take excerpts therefrom and meld them together, ignoring the entire context, in a futile attempt to justify your point.
And please, not from Obama, Biden, Reid, Pelosi or the likes. A credible source.
1) Falsifying primary residence to run for Governor of Massachusetts
2) Falsifying SEC documents
3) Admission of sheltered Swiss Bank Account
4) Distribution of Sandwiches on election day in Wisconsin
5) Illegal campaign contributions from foreign nationals
...so far
I guess it was the sandwich one that sealed it for me. You can’t be serious.
However, I am rather hungry for a ham and Wisconsin chesse melt right now.
But for NOW.. I'm MORE interrested in Obama releasing ALL evidence of his GUN CONTROL Program,, Fast and Furious,, that resulted in INNOCENT Deaths both HERE in America and in Mexico..
THEY see this as an attempt to distract from the REAL Issues surrounding this race.. Obama's record and how Romney may,, or may not,, be an imporvement on that disaster..
Romney's taxes,, beyond the requirements of LAW,, are HIS to decide whether to disclose or not.. And I don't blame him ONE bit for NOT doing so..
LOOK what's happening NOW....
The Left doesn't have the slightest Idea what they're talking about yet they treat their VICIOUS and SLANDEROUS Speculations unsubstaniated accusatio9ns as though they are FACTS all the time INSISTING that everybody ELSE treat them the SAME way unless Romney waives his RIGHT to PRIVACY..
What about Sarah Palin is racist? Or don't you know what the word means?
