Mitt Romney: No Health Insurance? Go to the ER.

Mitt Romney says people without insurance should get treatment at the ER. Romney knows ER treatment is expensive and inefficient. So why does he say it's a solution now?

Mitt Romney's health care plan: higher health care costs, more uninsured people and bad for the economy.

He is a full blown idiot. These aren't gaffes. Far from it, he is just pathetically ignorant. There is no free ER. A visit to an ER by an uninsured person costs about $2000. That cost is passed on through property taxes and by increased premiums for those who are insured. In both obvious and obscure ways, everyone pays for healthcare for uninsured people.

To offset these losses, federal and state governments provide subsidies for hospitals identified as critical or last-resort medical centers; often, these centers are university teaching hospitals or hospitals located in very poor areas. Subsidies are paid for with tax money. In other words, if Clyde the next block over can't pay for his knee replacement, we pay for part of that surgery.

Sarah Palin is woefully stupid. In all probability, she and Mitt were separated at birth.

Wow, what a flip-flopping idiot. Why does he say "we", are hospitals owned by the government? The E.R. thing is totally stupid and probably a reason that health care costs are so high. Years ago, I had started working for a company so my insurance had not kicked in. I started getting such a bad sore throat that I literally couldn't swallow. It was hard to talk, but I called a couple places. The "emergency room" scenario was the most expensive, as they would take whatever I could pay and then bill hundreds of dollars later. I knew I pretty much just needed antibiotics. It was funny, I found a clinic called "East West Clinic" which had several Korean doctors. The office visit was $60 and they gave me the antibiotics.

borrow from your parents. Yup Romney just has no idea just how dumb he sounds to
working folks and the working poor.

    Of course.

Anyone who thinks that universal health insurance is an incursion of big government that is against the individual's self-interest should think again whether you are young or older.

    A couple of personal examples:

    (1) I know a young couple without insurance. The young man needed emergency surgery, went to the emergency room, and subsequently had his wages garnished to pay the considerable bill. So, anyone including Romney that suggests that the ER is a solution to the health care crisis is not in touch with the reality that most Americans experience. We need affordable health insurance for everyone.

    (2) I know an older couple on social security but not eligible for medicare for several years. They are paying over $2000/mo for health care insurance. How many people can afford that? The health care premiums are actually more than their social security. Some security.

Everyone should consider how different alternatives will affect him/herself before going all in with Romney.

We have already been raped by Wall Street. Romney et al will set us up to be raped again by the health care insurers. It is already happening!

What a great idea to control our healthcare cost... Mitt once again shows how he'll say anything if he thinks it'll gain him afew votes... Supposedly Mitt is well informed on the HealthCare problem.. Right.

The ER won't treat you unless you can prove that they will get paid. I have seen people turned away because they cannot pay
