    Some times but not so much other times. Reagan had his strong points like Foreign policy but he also had his weaker points like his fiscal policy which was rather scary.

    I voted for Ronnie twice. In many ways I believe he was the leader that our nation needed at the time. I do not, however, miss his fiscal policies ~ his "trickle down" agenda and massive tax cuts for the wealthy started this country on the road to economic ruin.

    By the way, I think you have forgotten that Carter made mince meat out of our military and we were a sitting duck. Reagan rebuilt our strength, causing the fall of the Wall and the USSR.

    Lots of things conspired to bring down the Berlin Wall, but Reagan's ramp up of defense spending was certainly a factor. The Soviet Union was already teetering on bankruptcy, and they tried to match our defense spending, which pushed them over the edge.

    And as to the debt curve now, that concerns me greatly too. But do you seriously think the new Republican majority in the House will take any serious steps to reduce the borrowing. They are talking about a few cuts that won't be more than window dressing, and planning more tax cuts which will actually only make matters worse.

    No. He was a great communicator and made us feel good about ourselves, but his policies were designed to turn America into an oligarchy with a handful of elites holding all the nation's wealth and power, His penchant for deregulation has given us two savings and loan bailouts and the banking crisis of 2007 with its massive bailouts.

    His massive tas cut for the rich launched our National Debt, which we had been paying down ever since WWII, into the stratosphere. He tripled the debt in his two terms.

    His regressive tax policy began the slide of the middle class toward poverty. The wealthiest 1% have been the beneficiaries. They now own over 1/3rd of all the wealth in America. It was those policies of deregulation and tax breaks for the rich and well connected that set us on the course for the Great Recession we are currently in.
